He knows it's wrong. He knows that his pals down the pub don't approve (especially Kitty, but then she always took it on herself to be like his ma).
But he loves her, even though her kids are closer to him in age, and her husband could be his old man.
He doesn't care about any of that. The disapproving glances, the sneaking around, being told that he should find someone else - that's nothing to him. He'll go through all of that, and worse, to be with Mrs Patrick.
...That all changes when it's Alfie who is judging him.
