Maybe it hadn't been a good idea to let Korra help with dinner. The cabbage that had been whole just a few seconds ago, was a pile of mush thanks to Korra's over enthusiasm with a knife. I sighed and quietly asked Bo to go buy another one.

Korra had stomped off in frustration when I had taken the knife from her in an attempt to save the poor vegetable. The floor boards creaked as I walked upstairs to find the pig headed Avatar. I found her sulking out on the balcony. She glared at me and snapped, "What? Is dinner still salvageable?" I rolled my eyes and grabbed her hand to pull her up into a standing position and then pushed her from behind towards the stairs. Once down in the kitchen, I handed her the knife again and placed a carrot on the cutting board in front of her. She narrowed her eyes and violently brought the knife down on the vegetable.

I let out a sigh of exasperation and left my spot at the stove to stand behind her. Placing my left hand on the carrot, I took her right hand, with the knife, in mine and explained, "You don't have to savage the thing, Korra. Some times violence isn't the answer and you have to be gentle." I moved her hand up and down, slicing the carrot in the right size slices. About half way I stopped moving and let her go. She smiled up at me when she finished and I laughed, "Good job, great and mighty Avatar. What would the world do with out your vegetable slicing skills?"

She stuck her tongue out at me and that was when I realized how close our faces were. I blushed and removed my hands from hers, taking the tray with the carrot on it to put in the stew. Her cheeks were flaming and she quickly grabbed another vegetable.

She looked cute when she –WOAH. Stop right there Mako. You are dating Asami, I thought. And then a small voice in the back of my mind added- for now.

Bolin decided to burst through the door at that moment, the new cabbage in a bag on his arm.

"HEY BRO! WOAH! You two are bright red!" He laughed and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and asked, "What were you two up to?"

I threw the dishrag I had hanging on my shoulder at him which was almost immediately followed by a potato from Korra.

Bo laughed as we blushed once again.

Shut up, I mentally growled and whipped around to finish the stew.

Needless to say, dinner was awkward and Korra quickly found an excuse to leave.
