This was insane. He was insane. He had to be! After all, he had agreed with this...this insanity!
With a resigned sigh, Cedric took in the sleek - there really was no other word for it -, red contraption in front of him and then did something rather un-Cedric like. He snorted and shook his head. Horseless carriage, indeed.
"Ah-hem.",came a soft voice from behind him. He turned around and smiled his own charming smile at the sight of his tutor. Tutor. There's a word no one had ever associated with him before. At least, not in this way.
"Morning, Granger."
Hermione nodded as a slow grin spread across her face. "Diggory."
Cedric turned his glance back to the red Convertible in front of him and then to the girl who had moved to his side. He then blinked, still mystified with the whole situation and, for one reason or another, guilty.
For some reason, he had never pictured the bushy-haired brains of Gryffindor's Golden Trio to own anything like this. Nothing this stylish - and the guilt hit him square in the stomach, again - or loud. He pictured her with something more safe and reliable and - this time guilt just chuckled evilly, like it knew something he did not - not sexy.
Sexy. Merlin, this was not the time!
"So, are you just going to stare or what?",Hermione asked, an amused tone flittering through her voice. She headed towards the car, undoing the pony tail her hair had been in as she walked. It was in that instance that something struck Cedric squarely across the head. And this time, guilt wasn't to blame.
Her hair was soft. Silk like, almost. Sure, it still had quite a bit of volume to it and was definitely curl ridden, but bushy? No one in their right mind would ever dub it that! His his traveled down her hair, appreciating the way it seemed to pop against her red shirt and down to her blue jeans. Wait -- Correction. Blue jean shorts.
The car door slammed shut and Cedric jumped.
"Cedric!"
"Sorry!",he replied sheepishly, running a hand through his own brown locks. He'd have to look - just look! - later. For, extra credit purposes. Maybe.
The chuckling whispers of his previous guilt flooded his mind once more, causing a rather undignified blush to spread across his face.
Hermione laughed,"Well, come on, then." She motioned to the passenger's side, with an almost devious smile. "Or are you happy with just an E?"
Successfully motivated, the Hufflepuff came around the side and hopped over the door, into the car. An E was just unacceptable. Once in the car, however, Cedric paused and glanced about the dashboard in front of him. He had seen people using that wheel on Hermione's side as the cars moved around, but he didn't really know much else about it. "Uhm..."
"Buckle up."
He blinked, "Buckle what?"
SCREEEECH!
As the red Convertible peeled out, and he fell past the front seat and into the back of the car, Cedric could only confirm his earlier thought; This was insane! Gorgeous Gryffindor girl, be damned!

Ah, this is a nice way to start my Spring Break! Admittedly, I did want to make it a bit more lengthy, but such is the way of plot bunnies. Ho-hum.
Thanks for reading and please feel free to review! It makes me a happy little writer when you do!
