Sirius Black was in love with a girl named Persephone Ewell. He never wanted to hurt her. But he did. Eight months after they started dating in their sixth year he cheated on her. It all happened so fast. One moment he was talking to a girl in his potions class, the next thing he knew Lily, Persephone's best friend, had caught the two in a broom closet together.
Sirius didn't even try to convince her not to tell Persephone. He knew she was going to one way or another. He never thought Persephone would be so upset about it. After all, he always believed whole heartedly that she deserved someone better than him. All this did was prove him right. Right?
Yet there there they were. Sirius had come down to the common room because he couldn't seek when he found out he wasn't the only one there. Persephone was sat on couch, her head in her hands, weeping. It had been a week and a half since he cheated on her. Slowly, Sirius walked over and sat next to her, looking at her softly.
"What's wrong?" He asked, stupidly.
Persephone sniffled, then let out a laugh. "What's wrong?" She repeated. "What's wrong is that I love you."
"I love you too." He said, making her look at him. "You probably don't believe me, but I really do love you."
Wiping the tears away from her face, she sat up a bit more. "Prove it."
Sirius hugged her, hiding his face in her neck. He let out all the regret and pain he'd been holding in for the past week and a half out. It killed him that he could do such a thing to the love of his life. The tears began to fall down his face, dripping onto her skin. Feeling the droplets, she held him tightly and let him cry. After a few moments of silently sobbing, he spoke.
"I'm sorry." He said, his voice cracking.
She looked down at him, smiling a bit at how little boy ish he looked at the moment. "Just don't do it again and I'll be with you forever."
"Never again."
