Note: This is just a little drabble. I don't usually write fluff, but this is the result of making a pink Kirin shrine. If you don't recognize the characters, that's because they're only in the manga after the Urabutou Satsujin arc. Criticism is welcome.

Head and Heart

It was nearly midnight when Kirin entered the apartment. Removing her boots, she silently announced her return.

He was watching television in the next room.

Kirin set her shopping bag on the kitchen counter and headed to the room where Rasen was lying on the tatami with his head propped on a pillow, perfectly emotionless eyes staring at the television screen.

"Anything good on?" Kirin asked as she lay down beside him.

She laughed at his response.

"Well, then you should have come with me to Harajuku. I offered, but you insisted that-"

She stopped as Rasen picked up the remote control and turned off the television. They lay in silence.

When he was finished, Kirin said quietly, "I know. You've been thinking about it all week. All we have to do tomorrow is get a look at him. Mori-sama will take care of Kurei. Now get some sleep. I know you're tired."

Rasen closed his eyes.

Kirin slapped him lightly. "I do know everything, and don't be lazy. Roll out a futon, for God's sake."

She stood up and nudged Rasen with her foot. He turned away stubbornly. Kirin sighed and rolled one out for herself. By the time she finished, there was a silence in her head meaning Rasen had already fallen asleep on the tatami.

She was smiling as she covered his sleeping form with a blanket. She'd caught one fleeting thought before he'd drifted off. It was of the variety he usually tried to suppress.

Kirin lay down on her futon and set her sunglasses down on the tatami beside her, then turned over to face Rasen's back. It wasn't news that she was always in his head, but it was nice knowing she was in his heart, as well.
