Finlay laughed as she ran behind the house. She and her best friends, Lily and Jadan, were playing hide and seek. Granted, at 16 they may have been a little old to play such games, but it was still very fun.
As she rounded the corner to get to the backyard, she looked over her shoulder to make sure Jadan wasn't peeking and Lily wasn't following her. All clear. Good.
As she turned her head to look forwards again, she bumped into a tall, golden haired, tawny-eyed figure. She looked at him in confusion, and he returned the baffled glance. "Who are you?" she bluntly asked.
"You can see me?" he asked in response.
Finlay scoffed in annoyance. "I'm not blind, you idiot."
To her surprise, the boy smiled slightly. Finlay started to feel scared, and instinctively backed away. "I'll just… leave you to whatever you're doing in my backyard." She turned and started to quickly walk away, shoving her hands in her pockets.
"Wait! Don't go!" the boy called. Finlay's breath quickened as she broke into a run, scrambling away from the boy. She knew it was pointless once she heard brisk, heavy footsteps from behind her.
The boy grabbed her wrist, and, before she could scream for help, clamped a hand over her mouth. Finlay kicked and punched blindly, but her fists and feet only connected with air.
The boy took her arm as she struggled, and took out a long, silvery object from his pocket. Finlay did all she could- which wasn't much- to stop him from tracing the black lines on her skin. The markings stung and burned slightly, and the last thing she saw before blacking out was the boy smiling down on her face.

Jace walked down the streets of New York, carrying the strange, brown-haired girl as he walked. He had knocked her out with a sleeping Rune, and couldn't help feeling proud of himself for thinking that one up.
How often do you walk around New York backyards under a glamour, and a young Shadowhunter sees you? he thought to himself as he threw open the door of the Institute. He ignored Maryse's questioning glance as he carried the girl to the infirmary. He carelessly dumped her onto a bed, then he walked over to Clary's room.
He banged on her door 3 times. "Clary!"
Clary opened the door, her red hair in two long braids. She wore a black leather jacket with blue jeans and knee high black boots. "Yeah?"
Jace grinned mischievously. "You won't believe what I just found!"
She laughed the tinkling laugh he had become so familiar with. "What?"
Jace's grin grew wider. "A Shadowhunter who grew up a mundie. Just like you."
