Are You Game Prompt - Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword, Lyn/Ninian. Ring - She had left something very important behind.
Ninian, when this is over, I want you to come back to Caelin with me. You and Nils never did get to enjoy your time there. It was over now, but Lyn returned to Caelin with only her knights and only the memory of words spoken between them, warm breath against her lips, pale skin against hers in the dark, sighs and caresses and promises whispered in the moonlight.
They'd both broken those promises. Lyn hadn't been able to protect Ninian from Nergal's plan, Ninian couldn't stay in this world. She'd left something of herself behind with Lyn, smiled, and vanished through the gate.
"I'm sorry," Eliwood murmured. "If it weren't for my foolish mistake, we never would have known. They could have stayed here."
"No." Lyn shook her head. "No, it was...we had to find out sooner or later, Eliwood. Why Nergal wanted them so badly. They needed to go back to their world to seal the gate from their side..." Well, that wasn't entirely true. Nils could have just as easily gone back alone, but after all they'd gone through to stay together Lyn just couldn't bring herself to separate them. No, Nils needed his sister more than she needed her lover. "It's better this way," she lied.
"I suppose." Eliwood looked down. "Lyndis...I understand."
"Thank you." Though Eliwood fallen in love with Fiora, Ninian had held a special place in his heart, too. Both her and Nils, the ones his father had worked so hard to protect, the ones he'd vowed to protect in his stead. He smiled sadly, and she could tell he wanted to continue this conversation as little as she did.
He loved her, but not as I did. He will marry, he will have children, and she will remain a fond memory. But I...
She shook her head. Now was not the time to be selfish, she knew very well it was important that Ninian return to her world. Keeping her where she could no longer stay would only hurt her.
I, too, will move on. She will remain in my heart, come what may. We may be worlds apart, but as long as we think of each other we'll never truly be separated.
Eliwood moved to embrace Fiora, and Lyn's hand moved to her chest as she closed her eyes. Crimson eyes and pale hair filled her memory, and she smiled.
Lady Lyn...before I go, please...take this. Hold onto it, and always remember me.
The tiny silver ring hung from a chain around her neck, moonlight reflecting off its surface. The precious keepsake she'd helped rescue from the Black Fang so long ago was all she had left of the girl who'd stolen her heart.
She would never let it go as long as she lived.
