My First Yo-kai Watch Fanfiction! Inspiration struck, so I'm taking a break from my other story.

College for the four friends-Katie, Nate, Bear and Eddie-was good. They all got into the same university, and fast-forward some years, they each had respectable jobs for a couple of 23 year olds. Well, at least three of them did.

Katie got a job as a journalist, and wrote a column on Japan's economy. She hoped one day to write about more interesting topics; but for now, she was happy. Nate especially loved reading it. (Jibanyan and Whisper teased him for that.)

Bear got a job in construction-anything with heavy lifting, and he'd do it. Renovating houses, building skyscrapers...He could do it. Nate had to ask him to move a few things into his flat. Bear consented, gladly showing of his strength to the Watch-Bearer. Nate rolled his eyes every time he flexed his muscles.

Eddie, thanks to his parent's money, had a ton of experience in the world of computers. He had helped design the electronic security for cell-phones when he was eighteen, so big corporations were clamouring to get the tech-savvy college student. Nate managed to convince him to hook up a T.V for him. Eddie grumbled a you're paying for that, because he was always grumpy from staring at a computer screen all day.

Nate though… none of his friends knew his job. They knew he had to get the money from somewhere-he moved into his flat the first chance he got, and he did pay for that T.V Eddie hooked up-but where? Katie took it upon herself to use her newfound journalist skills find out.

When she came into his room, she cringed. It looked like nobody had cleaned it for days. Coffee stains on the nightstand, unmade bed, underwear strewn across the floor, and choco-bar wrappings everywhere. That problem has actually been around since elementary school. Couldn't he muster a little more self-control when it came to his sweet tooth?

Of course that's when he walked in. Shirtless. Katie jumped. "Aghh! K-Katie! What're you doing here?" He dove to the bed, covering up his chest. He was red as a beet. Katie's face matched his in that color, and she looked away. "J-just came to say hi."

Nate looked around, noticing the state of his room. Katie didn't know that it was physically possible to turn even more red. "W-well, hi.." He blushed, and then stood up. Katie turned away again, fearing the worst-

But he was wearing his red shirt. She swore that he didn't move from that position at all.

That's another thing about Nate. He was exceptionally good at doing things like that-mysterious things. It all began that summer when they went bug-hunting. Ever since then, he seemed to perform magic tricks-and nobody noticed.

He gestured to the door. When Katie looked around the room-careful not to step on a sharp object, she gasped.

The room was sparkly clean, the bed was made, the coffee stains were gone, the underwear folded neatly in a corner, and the choco-bar wrappers were nonexistent. What..? She thought. "Come outside, Katie, so we can talk." He opened the door to his living room.

Right before he closed the door, he whispered to the air- "Illoo, you can drop the illusion." And magically, the room returned to its previous disarray. The robed owl, invisible to Katie, sighed deeply.

Jibanyan marched next to Nate, munching on a choco-bar. "Jibanyan! I thought you were on a date with Blizzaria!" Nate hissed. The red cat rolled his eyes. "It's tomorrow, meowon." Nate mentally facepalmed. "You can hardly blame him, Jibanyan. His job goes on 24/7." Whisper piped in, floating next to Nate.

Nate froze. Quickly, so Katie didn't notice, he pulled his pocket watch out to check the time.

When he had gotten his job, he was required to go to Timers and More to change his Yo-kai Watch into a time-telling one-incidentally only available in pocket watch form-so he could be on time for his job. He could still summon his friends and scan for Yo-kai, except this watch had the added bonus of time telling.

He stared at it. 20:50, the watch read. Ten minutes until the Ghost Train started up again. He was the conductor for it, and a co-engineer. He sweated. Lord Enma would have his head if he didn't show up.

Nate clapped his hands together. "Katie! I really wanna catch up with you, but I gotta go for my job in ten minutes and all, so sorry that you caught me at a bad time-"

"Actually, that's what I came here for." Katie said. "Nate, we're concerned for your health. Me, Bear and Eddie." Nate paused. 9 minutes, his mind counted down.

"What kind of job do you have that tells you to work past 24:00?" She demanded. Nate gulped. "Uh-um..well…" Eight Minutes.

"I mean, do you even enjoy it? Eddie doesn't even get that much exhausted compared to you!" Nate snapped his eyes to hers. "Yes, I enjoy it." He answered-all nervousness completely gone.

Working on the Ghost Train was the best thing that happened to him in years. When he struggled in high-school for job ideas, Whisper told him to look around in the Yo-kai world. Yo-coins, the main currency, could be exchanged for yen. Because of his associations with the yo-kai world, and being on a personable basis with pretty much everyone, Lord Enma specifically asked him to conduct the Ghost Train. So that's how they get around. Nate initially thought.

But it was definitely fun on the Train. He became familiar with all the regulars, and he treated everyone nicely, and he got a ton of new medals. Sometimes a Yo-kai would tell him a story, to which he would listen attentively, rather it be about their death or how they fell in love or how their powers worked. He helped the elderly Yo-kai get around, and he always let the children yo-kai ride on his back and legs.

He knew Jibanyan liked the Train, because that's where he fell in love with Blizzaria. She was cool, and she acted like an older sister to Nate.

"Hello-earth to Nate!" Katie shouted in his ear. Nate started. He checked his watch. 2 minutes. "Ah crap!" His previous panic returned. "Sorry Katie, Gotta go!" And he dashed out the door, Jibanyan and Whisper tailing him.

"Ghost Train! Summon!" He incanted. His watch glowed slightly. Light blue tracks materialized on the road. A distant whistle was blowing, gradually getting louder. Screeching to a halt, the spectral train pulled up to to Nate. a giant eyeball scrutinized him for a moment. "Nathan Adams." It boomed. When it opened its doors, Nate didn't waste a second. Jumping on, he yelled, "Destination! Tok-YO!" and the train sped off.

Katie ran out from his flat. "Nate! We're not done talking-" She looked around. He was gone. All that was left was a choco-bar wrapper, drifting in the wind.

Okay, hope this wasn't a train wreck or anything. ;)

This story is probably going to be a one-shot kinda deal, with arcs here and there. Please review and follow to tell me what you think! (And also try to give me ideas.) Just in case. DFTBA.
