Hello. I'm Alex Sanhi and I'm a half-blood.

And I'm Connor Stoll, an incredibly important person (DO NOT BELIEVE HER IF SHE TRIES TO TELL YOU OTHERWISE)

Go away. Anyway, I'll just be telling you parts of this story and the others will tell you the rest.

Can't we kip this and go straight to the quest? It's more fun!

No. Butt out Connor, this is my part.

Spoilsport.

This is the story of how Connor and Travis Stoll lead a quest that actually succeeded.

Always the tone of surprise.

Stop quoting Ron Weasley. Let's start with how I found out I was a demigod.

ALEX'S DAY STARTS OUT AS NORMAL.

She wakes up late, brushes her teeth, takes a bath, you know, the usual. She goes to the kitchen and her sister, who is sitting on the counter, greets her with a: "You're late."

"Oh really? I didn't notice," she remarks, "But that's alright, at least I slept."

"Yeah? Well-"

Alex's mother comes into the kitchen to end the fight before it can really start.

"Okay, okay," She mother interrupts. "You-" she pointed at Alex, "overslept and you-" she pointed at Alex's sister "-didn't sleep at all."
She stands in front of them, frowning. "You both need to work on your sleeping habits. Now be nice and eat your breakfast."

"Sorry, can't. Late for school. Bye!"

"Aw, poor baby. You still have to go to school!" Her sister cackles. Really, she cackles, like the evil queen in Snow White.

Alex ignores her and turns to her mother. "When is she-," she jerks her head towards her sister, "-leaving for India again?"

"Tomorrow," Instead of her mother, she-who-never-ceases-to-be-annoying says. She continues with, "And aren't you late for school?"

"Shit. Bye ma!" Alex grabs her bag and sprints out of their apartment.

Alex somehow manages to reach school on time, even though she'd been sure she was going to be late.

Her day is pretty boring from there on, as school always is.

The only exciting thing happens in English. Well, it isn't really exciting but Alex supposes it's worth mentioning since it led to an event which led to another event which changed her life forever, but more on that later.

Back to English, Mrs. Plain had apparently decided it was time for a test. (Seriously, what kind of a name is Plain? Didn't these people have any imagination?)

She passes out worksheets which have to be filled in with a pencil. And lucky Alex, she only has a pen!

She slowly raises her hand.

"Yes, Ms. Sanhi?" (Yes, that is her legal last name, but she'll come back to that later.)

"Can we use a pen?" She asks.

"Are you unable to follow simple instructions, Ms. Sanhi? No. As it says on the top, this worksheet is to be filled with a pencil, " she replies. You know how there's always this one teacher who absolutely loathes particular student, for no apparent reason? That's Ms. Plain for Alex. She has no clue what she did to get on her bad side but Ms. Plain absolutely detests her.

She curses under her breath. Where is she supposed to get a pencil from?

You could borrow one, genius a little voice in the back of her head says. She mentally slaps herself. Why hadn't she thought of that before?

She pokes the boy sitting in front of her with her pen.

He turns around slightly.

"What?" he asks.

Before she can say anything a voice says, "Ms. Sanhi, what do you think you are doing?" Uh-oh. Mrs. Plain alert.

Calm down, Alex tells herself, you weren't doing anything wrong.

"Borrowing a pencil?" She says meekly.

"Oh, like I haven't heard that one before. Did you think you could fool me? Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Well, you sure look like one now for not believing me. I literally just told you I don't have a pencil.

Behind Alex, somebody gasps. The whole class turns their heads to look at her. Did she say that out loud? Oops.

"Detention, Ms. Sanhi!" Ms. Plain says, looking absolutely livid. "And switch places with Jake here." She points to a kid in the first row.

"Fine," She says. She's not usually one to talk back to teachers, but Mrs. Plain was getting on her nerves (it might've had something to do with her empty stomach making her moody too, but she's choosing to ignore that for now). "Can I at least borrow a pencil first?" She asks

"If you want to continue with that excuse. Do it quickly."

She looks expectantly at the guy in front of her, who quietly hands her one.

"Thanks," She whispers to him as she gets up to change places. Never let it be said Alex didn't posses any manners. She only broke them out for decent people though.

The test is pretty easy, which is saying something, seeing as English is not exactly her mother tongue and she's only been at this school for about two weeks. Hindi is. Well half-half actually. Her mother is Indian but her father was American, or so they tell her.

Gather 'round for story time kids: Alex's adopted.

Her birth mother was Indian and was living in the U.S. when she got pregnant with Alex.

This is how it goes: Two months after she's born, her birth mom goes back to India alone and meets her adopted parents through an adoption agency. She tells them Alex's father couldn't keep her and that she isn't ready for a kid.

Alex's parents tell her everything when she's 5. She suspects they do that to avoid a big dramatic fight that always happens in T.V. shows. She's actually glad they told her then because she might've done something stupid if they had told her now, like running away. Her parents think her father was American (though her actual mother never specified that).

Alex doesn't remember her, but that's understandable, seeing as she wasn't even a year old then.

Frankly, she doesn't want anything to do with her real parents. They didn't want her? Fine. She's not bitter.
She's better off without them anyway. She has her own family now. She doesn't get why the kids on T.V. or in books always want to find their birth parents. They obviously didn't want to keep the kid, so why go on an unnecessary and hard journey to search for them?

Alex only even knows what she knows about her parents because her birth mother had at least had the decency to tell her parents all that.

Her name is the only thing she has from her birth parents. Her first name. Which is not that great, if one thinks about it. She hasn't like her name since the 5th grade when Ayush Gupta told her it was a boy's name. She still maintains that if it'd been short for Alexandria or something, it would've been fine. But noooooo, she had to be named a guy's name.

Her parents tell Alex her mother named her after Alexander the Great, but since Alexander was definitely not suitable for her, she named her Alex. Yeah, great job there mother.

Okay, so she was a little bitter.

Whoa, she really needs to have a little more focus. Curse her ADHD. How did she get here from her English test?

"Alex?"

"Huh? What?" She turns her head around so fast she feels a little dizzy.

"Alex, are you even listening to me?" Wren, who is basically my only friend, asks. You know, funny story, Wren had become her friend only a few days ago in the cafeteria when Alex had borrowed her phone to tell her mother about a different detention.

"Alex."

"Of course I am!" Alex says, nodding her head up and down earnestly.

Wren sighs. "You're a terrible liar," she says, but the corners of her lips are twitching upwards.

That's when Alex slams into the open door of her locker.

"Ouch. I hate you!" She says to her locker door, pointing a finger towards it accusingly. This day's just getting better and better.

The guy passing her, who happens to be the same guy who loaned her a pencil, gives her a weird look.

"Yeah, go ahead. Stare at the new kid and make her feel like a weirdo," Alex mutters under her breath. Pencil Boy doesn't hear her but Wren does and laughs.

"Well, I'm off. See you later," she says.

Alex merely groans in response and heads back towards Ms. Plain's classroom for her hour of torture.

Detention with Mrs. Plain can be accurately described in three words. Boring as hell. But then, detention is supposed to be boring.

She makes Alex write lines, which wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't completed that task in the first 25 minutes. After that, all Alex does is stare at her doing paperwork. She doesn't think about doing her homework. It would be the only thing worse than this.

When their designated hour is finally over, Ms. Plain only has one thing to say.

"I hope this hour has helped you recognize and realize your mistake. You are free to go."

Needless to say, she's plenty relieved to leave the school building.

Outside, the streets are empty. There's not a person in sight for miles. Or so she thinks.

She isn't very far from school when somebody crashes into her and sends them both spiraling towards the ground. Let her tell you, the sidewalk isn't very tasty.

She turns to see Pencil Boy sprawled out on the ground beside her.

She opens her mouth to say something but her gaze falls on- Wait, what the hell is that?

At first it looks like an overly enthusiastic bus. As the thing bounds closer, Alex realizes that the bus has red fur, and claws and teeth so sharp steak knives would quiver at the mere sight of them. And it's coming right towards them..

To say she got up fast is an understatement.

She looks back at Pencil Boy. He's getting up now and-is that a sword in his hand?

She can absolutely not deal with this. What is he doing with a bloody sword? Is he crazy?

He's trying to kill the huge demonic dog-thing with the sword, duh. A voice in the back of her head says. She's getting really tired of this voice.

Alex grabs his arm and helps him up.

"What the hell is that thing?" she practically screams at him, pointing at the monster.

"It's a- Wait, you can see that?"

She can't help but roll her eyes, "Don't be daft. It would be kind of hard to miss it."

Before the guy can reply, the monster lets out a bark that's so loud; she's surprised Ms. Plain hasn't rushed out to see what's causing all this commotion. She glances at it and it seems to be looking right at her.

"Look, I don't have time to explain it. It's a Laelap dog. It's designed to always catch its mark. And right now, seeing as you're standing right next to me, you have my scent over you. And we have to run."

Alex stares at him. "Are you insane, Pencil Boy?" she demands because what the hell is happening. "You can't seriously expect me to run off with you. I don't even know your real name!"

Okay, she's panicking. But so would you if one of your classmates came out of nowhere and told you a giant dog was now chasing you.

Pencil Boy fidgets irritably.

"I'm Will Solace and if you don't want to be dog meat in the next 60 seconds I suggest you better come with me."

Pencil Boy stands up straight and starts running at top speed. Alex? She takes one last look at the dog and decides to do the sensible thing.

She runs after him.

A/N: So... hate it? like it? Want to throw me in a ditch for writing it? Please don't do that before Rick Riordan releases the House Of Hades.
If you're wondering why I chose India, the reason's really simple.
It's because I know India a lot better than the U.S. I'm not American and I don't think I would do very well writing an OC with a somewhat American background. I already know the other characters so it isn't very hard with them. That's it.
Don't forget to review!

EDIT: So, the first chapter's up again after changes. The second chapter should follow soon :)
