Chapter 1: First contact.
Another day was rising on the flying city of Sanctuary. The home of the crimson raiders was in a state of peace, well as peaceful you can get on Pandora. It has been a couple of weeks since Handsome Jack's death to the hands of the Vault Hunters since then Hyperion has been almost destroyed. Life on Pandora was getting a bit better every day, new settlement were built and the number of bandits was getting lower each day!
People still shot first before asking question but hey, they only shoot once not a whole clip, another improvement!
Anyway, hope was finally coming back to the people of Pandora and all that was because of the Vault Hunters. They were some of the most crazy, colorful and gun loving persons someone could ever meet.
There was Axton the commando, an ex-Dahl soldier that went to Pandora in the hope of escaping the company that he once worked for. Maya, a siren that went rogue from a group of monks called The Order that used her as a threat to the people of her home planet: Athenas. Salvador the gunzerker, he already lived on Pandora to this side of it after he heard of a vault and of the challenge that it represents of finding it and of opening it. Zer0 the assassin…cyborg…and number? Zer0 only came to Pandora in the hopes of finding a challenge. Gaige the self-proclaimed mechromancer, she is an Eden-5 runaway who had to come to Pandora after her science project, D374-TP also called DeathTrap, killed another student. And finally, Krieg a meat, salt and bicycle loving psycho, not much is known about him except that he probably was part of a Hyperion experiment.
Of course, there was also the first Vault Hunters. Lilith, a secretly geeky siren that came from the planet Dionysus. Brick, a giant heap of pure muscle that loves violence and puppies. Mordecai, an alcoholic sniper that is always in search of better guns, tons of cash and Moxxi's attention. And the now deceased Roland, the commander of the crimson raiders and lover of Lilith.
Speaking of them, lets see what they are up to.
Crimson Raiders HQ
*CRASH-BANG*
"For god sake Gaige, don't use Deathtrap to cut your food! This is the third table this week!" Lilith screamed at the sheepish looking teen.
The heroes of Pandora were currently trying to eat their breakfast normally, but of course, it seems they can't do anything slightly normal without something happening.
Gaige was sitting on a chair with a broken table in front of her, Lilith was siting to her right and Deathtrap was to her left, claws were still active. Brick was sleeping while leaning on a wall close to him. Zer0 was sitting on one of the many washing machine while looking over his gear. Maya was reading one of her books on a sofa. Krieg was looking over her shoulder, trying to see what the pretty lady was doing, judging by her amused smile she didn't mind. Axton and Salvador were having a heated battle of Who has the biggest gun and if Salvador's smirk was anything to go by he was winning.
"Hum… Sorry?" Gaige said.
"Just… don't use him again. Please." Lilith sighed, looking exasperated.
"But I have to get him out sometimes! It's so boring around here, there's no contract, no bad guy to beat up or… well anything to do!" She whined.
"You know, she isn't wrong." Maya said, not even looking up from her book. "We fought every bad guy there is, found enough guns for a small army, explored every place there is on this side of Pandora and, of course, found enough money to buy Pandora itself."
Krieg nodded, trying to help the blue haired siren… even though he only understood half of what she said.
But she still liked the gesture, with a chuckle she patted his masked head.
"Look, I know things are pretty boring around here but… hum… never mind." Lilith sighed. "Oh, wait did you go kill that thing that Tannis wanted?"
"Yup… 11 times." Maya said nonchalantly.
"How…?" Lilith asked looking completely confused.
"Don't ask." Maya simply said.
"Hum… Hammerlock's hunting trip! Did you guys go with him?" Lilith asked.
"Yeah we did. We also went to Oasis and The Badass crater of Badassitude." Gaige answered.
"And let me guess, you killed every bad guy around those places?" Lilith asked, already knowing what was going to be the answer.
"Yes. Few of them were a challenge." Zer0 said, a red sad face in front of his helmet.
"You guys are to good." The red-haired siren chuckled.
A couple of minutes later, Lilith's Echo device went off.
"Hey Lilith, you there?" The voice of Mordecai came from it.
"Yeah, what's up Mordecai?"
"Are the others around?"
"Yeah they're right here."
"Alright, so you guys know about all those contacts that I have around Pandora, right?" He asked.
"Yeah, what about'em?" Axton asked.
"Well one of them just told me about a new settlement on the other side of Pandora." Mordecai said.
"So? There's nothing special in that, tons of them are being build right now." Lilith said.
"I know but this one is special because there's a siren in there." He said.
"Wait what? How do you know if it's true or not?" asked a doubtful Lilith.
"Well, yesterday the hum… mayor I guess contacted me and she sent me her coordinates and some holovids of the town. She said she had a couple of contracts for the Crimson Raiders. One of them was to help her daughter." Mordecai said, excitement filling his voice at the idea of finally having something interesting happening.
"So, I guess her daughter is the siren you talked about, right?" Gaige asked, already looking over her guns and shield to make sure that everything was ready for the trip.
"You'd be right chica." He said with a laugh. "Apparently her powers are getting harder to control because nobody there knows what to do to train a siren, obviously, and they don't want to risk it."
"Makes sense I guess, but this could be a trap." Lilith said, pointing out the obvious.
"Lilith, when was the last time that we said no to money, loot and booze!" Mordecai said matter-of-factly "Think about it Lilith, all that loot, tons of money and booze… so much booze." He said dreamily.
"Riiiight, anyway what do you guys..." behind her, every single one of them sported face splitting grins, except for Zer0 who had a red smiley face. They already had their guns in hand.
"I'm gonna regret this later." She grumbled to herself. "Alright Mordecai, tell her that we're sending some people over there. Send me the coordinate so we can put them in the fast travel station."
"Sure thing. Good luck out there Vault Hunters." With that he signed off.
"Well then, you guys know what to do. Try to stay in contact with us so we can send reinforcement if anything happens, alright?" Lilith asked while looking at them seriously.
Since Roland's death she had made sure that everyone that went on a mission was prepared and could call for backup. It was clear that she didn't want to see anybody else die, especially the Vault Hunters.
"Don't worry Lilith, we're going to be fine. We've gone trough worst." Maya said, trying her best to be reassuring.
"I know just…" She paused while chewing her bottom lips in worry." Be careful, alright?"
"We will be, don't worry." Maya said with a smile, receiving nods from the others.
"Alright, good luck killers." Lilith with a satisfied smile.
With that, they walked towards the fast travel station. The citizens of Sanctuary acclaiming them as they passed.
The Vault Hunters we're ready for a new adventures and loot. Tons of loot.
Unknown location
As they finally started to digistruct back, they saw that around them were giant trees that seemed to go on forever in the sky. The ground was covered by luscious reddish grass. They also heard a couple of animal cry.
"This is… wow!" Maya breathed out while looking around. "This is beautiful!" she added with a smile.
"Yes, it is." Said a voice with a heavy accent behind them.
They quickly turn around, aiming their guns at the stranger.
The stranger was a dark-haired woman with green eyes. She looked to be around thirty. She had a warm smile on her face, not even fazed by the multiple guns pointed at her.
"Who are you?" Axton asked, still aiming is assault rifle.
"My name is Annie Swan and you must be the Vault Hunters?" She said calmly, still smiling.
"Si, señora." Salvador said while puffing out his chest proudly.
"Well in that case, welcome to the Crimson Forest. I was the one that contacted your friend. Please, come with me I'll lead to the town. Oh also, don't worry about the animals around the forest. Almost all of them are peaceful… except if you attack them and trust me, you do not want that." Annie said seriously.
Axton looked at the other as if to say, "Do we go or not?". They looked at it each other and shrugged, what was the worst that could happen?
Annie lead them to trail that went pass a couple of small lakes that were of a beautiful blue and they passed across some of the wild life. One of the animals looked like a skaag but smaller with orange fur and… wings? Like Annie said, it didn't seem hostile, it even went to sniff them.
"This place is amazing!" Maya gushed while petting the little creature that purred in satisfaction
"It sure is, I found this place by accident when the ship I was on crashed. So, me and the rest of the passengers installed ourselves here and with made houses with the rest of the ship." Annie said. "It went great for a while, but a couple of months ago a group of bandits made camp close to us. They called themselves The Rippers. At first, they didn't do anything to us we even traded sometimes. But recently they started to ask for money to "protect us from threat". She snorted bitterly. "After that it became worst every day. They wanted more money, then food and…" She paused to sigh. "They also wanted woman."
That made most of them growls, Maya being the worst.
"We refused, of course, so they became violent. They tried to raid the town but thankfully they were stupid enough to sell us guns before that and in the ship, there was also some Dahl equipment." Annie said.
That picked Axton's attention. Why would there be Dahl stuff on that ship? Were the survivors a group of soldiers? But Annie didn't have a tattoo on her forehead so that couldn't be it.
As if sensing his confusion, Annie turned to look at him. She glanced at his tattoo that showed his rank.
"I lived on Elpis before it went rogue." She said while looking at Axton. "Me and my daughter got on a transport ship for Pandora but during takeoff we were attacked. The engine was hit, so we were obliged to do an emergency landing. We… lost some people in the landing." She said with sigh, stopping for a bit to tell her story. "In total we were 32 civilians and 5 Dahl guards who were supposed to escort an important politician… or something." She added, looking a bit embarrassed to not know.
"Wait, why would a politician be on a civilian ship? If Dahl was involved it normally means they do everything they can to make sure everything goes well, so why a transport ship and not a fully armed ship or something like that?" Axton asked, obviously suspicious.
"To be honest, I have no idea. If you want to you can ask them in town, no promise though." She said, while shrugging "Anyway, let's go. Even if most of the wild life is peaceful, you never know what could come out." She added.
With that, the group continued their way trough the forest. Never noticing the multiple eyes watching them.
Time skip.
They had been walking for close to thirty minutes, the forest seemingly going on forever. Until, finally, the scenery changed. The gigantic trees abruptly stopped, it was if an invincible line delimited were to stop. There was also a couple of people working in what looked like a garden. Some habitations were already in sight, they were made of scrap metal and wood. A large wall made from scrap was being build around the town, behind them were a couple of watchtowers where men and women in Dahl uniforms were looking out for dangers.
"Welcome to Junktown." Annie said while gesturing towards the town. "The town with the less imaginative name of all Pandora."

Hey Guys, this is a pilot for a series that I've been sitting on for a while now. I haven't written in months now, so I might be a bit rusty.
For those that come from my others story and want to know why I didn't work on the others, well the short-ish answer is that life got hectic for me. Lots of stuff happened so I didn't have time to write or even play games to be honest. Just when it started to get a bit better, I get a concussion during a school trip. Thankfully it was not a severe one so after a couple of weeks it became better. So just when I'm thinking "Alright, it's time to get off my ass and do stuff.", tree things happened. 1, there was tons of exam that I had to study.2, Borderlands, The Witcher and Fallout 2 completely stole my free time. Those games took over my life for a couple of weeks (btw if anyone wanna play, my steam name is on my profile). And 3… I didn't feel like writing. I tried to, but each time I just kinda blocked. I got to about 600 words for my StarCraft fic and after that I just blocked. So yeah… but I am getting back into it. Writing is something I love to do and I don't want to just stop like that.
Anyway, I hope you guys like this chapter. If you have any recommendation, I would love to read them. Also, for those curious about pairings, well they aren't set in stones. One I want to do is Krieg/Maya, you can even see a bit of it in this chapter, I don't know why I like this pairing some much. This pairing always made me think of the Wolverine/Storm pairing. They are complete opposite, they shouldn't work but trough fans and their work, they do. That probably doesn't make any sense but whatever. Anyway, back to this fic. I also thought of something for Axton, it actually relates to the Dahl soldiers inside of the town. One of them is someone who was very close to Axton at one point. Just by saying that, most of you probably already know who I'm talking about. As for the others, I don't know. I had this crazy Salvador/Annie pairing in my head but of course that's up to you guys, same thing for Zer0 and Gaige.
As for the characters, Annie and her daughter are canon. But her daughter being a siren is only a theory. I highly recommend you check out SupMatto's video named "The Emily Swan Story & Theories." For those that want to know more.
Edit 19-03-18: Thank you CrackedShot for pointing out my mistakes about the characters backstory. To be honest I feel kinda stupid about the error I did about Salvador, as for Axton I wrote why he came to that side of Pandora and not why he came to Pandora (Thanks again btw) and Maya I actually didn't know it was Athenas and not Athena.
He also pointed out that I did some pretty basic grammatical mistakes, so I tried to do the best I could as English is not my main language. French is my main one. Anyway thanks for pointing that out :)
