A/N; Just a little idea I had from my current Writer's block pertaining to my main story! (Also, this won't exactly be word for word, sorry in advance!)
Chapter 1; You Really AREN'T Rose?
Steven looked nervous as he saw the shards of splintered rock on the floor all around him.
"Y... you shattered it..." the boy was scared. He knew that shattering gems was terrible, and that it was the equivalent of killing a human.
"That's right, baby!" Bismuth seemed to not notice Steven's worried tone. She then handed him the Breaking Point, the weapon that just moments ago had shattered the rock statue. Bismuth gestured to a statue. "Here - this one's got your name written all over it!"
"Bismuth I..." before Steven could respond she smiled and backed away, but not before talking again.
"Here, let me get out of your way!" Bismuth finished saying this as she had hopped back. As Steven got closer to the statue, so many thoughts flooded his mind.
"The Diamonds are bad... and so are the Homeworld gems, right...?" Steven's mind became clouded as he got to the statue. "But if I do this, then I can keep the Earth safe, forever"
"Bismuth... if I go through with this... make me a promise" the Big gem seemed shocked by this, but suddenly, she toned down a bit.
"Sure, little guy" she was kneeling down in front of him now, the heat of the forge radiating around them.
"Promise me that if we shatter a gem... that there shards get into a bubble. All of them" Bismuth was a little taken aback by this.
"Anything for you, Steven" Bismuth offered him a hand and lead him back to the statue. She backed up and Steven placed the Breaking Point up to it. With a slight push, he activated it.
"Yeowch!" he was hit by a stone that went flying off.
"Steven!" Bismuth was suddenly looking him over, making sure he was okay. "Are you hurt? Are you fine?"
"Yeah, just a little scratch is all..." he let Bismuth see his right arm, which was bleeding a little from the cut. Steven handed her the weapon and looked down at the steel ground.
"Hey, let me level with you" Bismuth was once more eye-level with Steven, the boy feeling bad for going through with it. "Some gems are powerful enough to break bubbles meatball"
"Wait, really?" Steven looked a little nervous now.
"Why do you think we had to shatter our enemies during the war? Rose didn't like it much, but we never reduced anyone to dust"
"What do you mean by that?" Steven hadn't heard of gems being turned to dust. He waited for a response as he and Bismuth took the elevator-like platform back up to the main forge.
"When a Gem is crushed into nothing" she replied simply. "When a gem is reduced to shards, it still some-what exists. But if you're reduced to dust, then you're gone, to put it simple" Steven shuddered a bit. "But don't worry - I won't break the promise I made you" Steven nodded to her and the two exited the forge out into the rocky, dark mountains. Together, the two got to the Warp Pad and were back in the temple.
"Oh hey Steven. Hello Bismuth" Pearl had been in the kitchen with Amethyst and Garnet and the three had noticed them. The three gems then noticed the weapon Bismuth was holding.
"What's that thing?" Amethyst was the first to speak since Pearl had. Bismuth walked up to them and they all looked at it.
"The Breaking Point" Bismuth began explaining to them what the weapon could do. Amethyst was the least fazed by this, Garnet seemed taken aback, but Pearl seemed some-what angry.
"Bismuth, we can't use that" Pearl seemed on the verge of exploding.
"Pearl, think we should" Steven spoke up against his tall guardian, taking back Garnet and Amethyst. "Think about it - how many friends did you lose in the war?"
"Steven - shattering a gem is the equivalent of killing a human" Garnet was kneeling in front of the boy now, trying to speak with him.
"Yeah man, G and P are right" Amethyst was speaking now too. Steven though, however, believed in Bismuth's reasoning.
"Guys, we REALLY should use it! We don't have to shatter every gem - maybe some of them will join us!" Steven tried to sound helpful.
"YOU DON'T GET IT!" Pearl was livid, fuming with anger. Everyone was shocked by her sudden outburst.
"Pearl, control yourself" Garnet grabbed her shoulders and looked her in the eyes.
"YOU'RE GOING TO LET OUR BABY SHATTER GEMS?" she was practically screaming in Garnet's face now. "WE SWORE to NEVER shatter ANYONE. EVER. AGAIN"
"Pearl. I trust that Steven and Bismuth's judgement is right" Garnet, after thinking it over, spoke to Pearl.
"If it makes you feel better P, we don't have to shatter any Amethysts" Amethyst was trying to diffuse the situation. "Yeah, shattering might be bad, but didn't we like, have to do it all the time?"
"Pearl" Bismuth put her hand on her shoulder and used her other hand to grab her chin. "I know you don't want to shatter anyone, but if we take this up to the Diamonds, we can liberate everyone" Pearl looked defeated and sighed.
"I... I guess you're all right" Steven put a hand on her back.
"Think of it as avenging all your friends" he offered the tall gem a small smile. Pearl looked to him and offered a very small smile.
"So how we getting to Homeworld then?" Amethyst asked the question equivalent of the elephant in the room.
