Have you seen Remus? Tonks called after Aberforth.

He was duelling with Dolohov, haven't seen him since!"

"Tonks," called Ginny, "I'm sure he's OK-"

But Tonks had already sped off into the dust after Aberforth.

"Where was he duelling him?" Tonks called after him again.

"Some where on the ground floor!"

She turned around and ran to the staircase.

Tonks found Remus in a deserted corridor. He was sprawled across the floor, pale and eyes closed. His face was streaked with blood and dirt. His expression was peaceful. He looked younger, healthier

"REMUS, NO!" she screamed running towards him, tripping and stumbling over bits of stone and rubble. She sank to the floor, knees hitting the hard marble and bent over him in disbelief.

"Remus, oh no, Remus!" she cried her throat catching. She scooped up his head and carefully placed it in her lap, pushing the hair away from his eyes lovingly.

She caressed his cheek gently and sobbed. He couldn't be dead he was so strong.

Only an hour ago he was rocking baby Teddy back and forth, now the poor child didn't have a father.

Tears were streaming down her face, dropping gently onto his eyelids.

"I love you" she murmured. Tonks wailed again and pulled him closed, gently pressing her lips to his cold ones.

She didn't hear the cackling laugh behind her, and she didn't register the green flash of the killing spell as it sped towards her.

Tonks slumped to the floor. Her face was inches from him. She was still holding onto his hand when Bill Weasley found them.
