Note: This is meant to be sort of a "mirror" poem to I Cannot Say. If you have not read it, I recommend you do, or what happens at the end will make very little sense.

Why I Love You

I've never said, "I love you,"

But you have my heart all the same.

You are my purpose, my reason,

the strength that I depend on

to live each day.

Why do you look away when I see

The tears in your eyes?

I only want to hold your hand

and wipe them away.

I've never said, "I need you."

But my soul is yours all the same.

I fall asleep easily because I

know you are watching over me

and I dream of you.

Why do you turn from me when I feel

the pain in your body?

I only want to hold you in my arms

and take it away.

I've never said, "I want you."

But I trust my life to you all the same.

Heaven is never far when you

are beside me, in fear and doubt

I only see you.

Why do you hide away when I know

the ache in your heart?

I only want you to reach for me

to kiss it away.

And still I love you,

I will be there for you always.

And yet I need you,

When you give me my dreams.

And so I want you

To share yourself with me,

Lives forever entwined.

Narrator: *sniffling* Awwww, that's so sweet! (blows her nose in a hanky, overcome with the WAFF)

Kagome: ^_^ Thank you. (shyly) What you think about it, Inuyasha? *blushes*

Inuyasha: (extremely embarrassed/secretly pleased and trying not to show it) Feh! My poem was better!

Narrator: (before Kagome can "sit" him) I wrote it for you, you know.

Inuyasha: (still being a moron) And your point…?

Kagome: I've just poured out my heart to you and everyone who could be reading this and all you can say is "My poem was better"?!

Inuyasha: (has finally realized he was being a moron) I…I…wait a minute, what do you mean "other people"? As in other "other people"? Besides you, me, and the nutcase?

Narrator: Oi!

Inuyasha: (righteous indignation) My feelings for Kagome are our business, not anyone else's! Love is supposed to be between two people, got it?!?!

Kagome: Inuyasha…

Inuyasha: What?

Kagome: Did you just say you love me?

Inuyasha: …(deer-in-the-headlights time)

Kagome: Inuyasha…

Inuyasha: *wince*

Kagome: I LOVE YOU TOO!!! *glomp*

Inuyasha: *blink, blink* (thinking very hard)…*^_^* (hugs her back)

Narrator: By George, he's got it! I'll just leave you two alone now…
