How to Ride a Varavan
Cezille07
A/N: I just thought of this because my sister said "Mush!". It made me wonder if it can make a monster move. (Of course not. Try asking nicely.) Anyway, this is an attempt at one-shot, at which I fail drastically. Please read and review, thanks very much!
Disclaimer: Nothing in this story is mine, as I keep asserting, except for the plot.
"Now what?"
They stared at each other. Elena had just been brave enough to ask the obvious—now what? How were they going to get to Big Burg?
They found the hidden path in the Armory that led to high ground, where the Varavans' natural habitat was found. It wasn't hard to find a submissive one that had nothing to do, and it wasn't hard getting on it. They had only one little problem. How would they control it?
Zick stroked the creature's head, and asked, "Can you take us to Big Burg?"
It did nothing more than look up lazily at him and resumed grazing.
"Come on! How are we going to meet the Tutors and Tamers today? Why Ms. Swift had to keep us at school later than usual! Now we're late," he groaned.
Elena shrugged. "Too bad the others took all the Flyvans."
"These things are public transport monsters! Why won't this one move?"
"Maybe you have to use the Voice Dom, duh!" replied Elena, who was flipping through the Tamer's Handbook. "It says here that they function as transportation monsters. That's it. But try the Voice Dom."
"Okay. Take us to the city."
Nothing happened.
Elena looked up from the Manual. "Mush!"
The Varavan looked as if it made to laugh, then went on eating.
"What do you think it is, a sled dog?" Zick remarked.
"But I saw that on TV!" said Elena. "And I saw this too on this cool show. Watch me." She patted the monster and added, "Yip yip!"
As before, nothing happened.
"I watch that show too!" Zick stated.
"Giddyup!" yelled Elena.
And her friend burst out laughing. "Now that's plain ridiculous!"
"What do we have to do, say 'please'?!" Elena retorted.
No sooner than she finished speaking, the creature got on its feet and walked at a slow but steady pace towards the city.

A/N: It could be better, I know.
