Today's Dean's birthday, and he realizes, with a jolt, that this will be his last.
He's surprised Sam remembers – neither had mentioned it. But when Dean comes out of the shower, on the table is a pathetic-looking chocolate cupcake with a candle, and Sam hands him a present. It's a knife, one that Dean admired in a shop months ago.
Sammy's all smiles today; he even teases Dean about grey hairs. This is the happiest Sam's been in weeks, and Dean laughs along with him and forgets, just for a second, that he only has 242 days to live.
