Kaachan tells me I was born on October 31, the day that the barriers between worlds are the thinnest. She says that's why my hair doesn't match her's or Touchan's, 'cause I'm special. Touchan says our family calls it spirit-touched. Kaachan always smiles when he says that and looks at him like he hung the stars. Touchan does hang the stars. Only the sparkly, glow-in-the-dark ones in my room, though. I like it when Kaachan smiles. She gets really happy and starts singing, then I start singing, and Touchan starts dancing with Kaachan. I tried to join once. They were dancing too fast and I fell. It's alright now, the bruises went away after Kaachan sang to them and Touchan kissed them.
I have darker hair than Touchan but lighter hair than Kaachan. I have Touchan's eyes and Kaachan's skin. My Baasan has the same hair as me and sometimes when she gets mad it turns orangey-yellowy-red like the sunset. My Jiji has hair like Kaachan, but it's spiky instead of curly. Baasan has curly hair like Kaachan, and sometimes when she takes naps, I pull on them and they go sproing! It's kinda weird. My hair is curly, but not super curly. Touchan says I have a perfect mix of his and Kaachan's hair. It makes me happy.
Kaachan says that my itoko, Kaito-nii, who's ten years older than me, gave me my name. My name, Ichika, means One Thousand Flowers. Kaachan says that she hopes my name means I grow up really pretty and I have lots of friends. Touchan says he just hopes I don't get a boyfriend, which is weird, because I have boy friends. I have Zu-chan and Ki-chan. I don't know what Touchan is talking about...
