Bryan Morris sat alone in his dorm, studying for the next day's test. No one dared bother him anymore, not after last Friday. That jerk Ichiro pulled brass knuckles on him, and he responed with a Bowie knife. Needless to say, he won the fight. Luckily for him, the headmaster of Cross Academy deemed it self-defense, and didn't dismiss him. People were insensitive fools, mistaking intelligence for weakness, shyness for snobbery. But he wouldn't let them slide on ignorance. Bryan had enough of their abuse, and now he ran on a short fuse.

Realizing he was missing one of his books, he left the dorm out into the night air to retrieve it from the classroom. Halfway to the dorm, Yuki Cross jumped down in front of him.

"It is past curfew! Return to your dorm! Don't mess with the night class!" Yuki exclaimed.

"Past curfew? Well then, you should right on to bed. Me, I'm working, not 'messing with the night class' Chill out and let me pass." Bryan responded sarcastically.

"Stupid American, just listen to-" Yuki started, but stopped when she was staring down he edge of a Bowie knife.

"This 'stupid American' does not appreciate being called such," Bryan growled. Something hit the side of his face like a freight train, sending him sailing into a nearby gate. Zero stepped toward Bryan as he tried to regain composure

"Don't touch her," Zero said, pointing the Bloody Rose gun in Bryan's face. Bryan mumbled under his breath, something about Hiroshima needing a repeat, and got to his feet, starting toward the classrooms. Zero strode in front of him, blocking his path. No matter how he tried, Bryan couldn't out-manuever Zero and get past. He pushed Zero out of his way and continued on, when Zero came up and punched him hard across the face.

"Go back to your dorm. Do not attempt to defy the Disciplinary Comittee. You're in deep enough for attacking Ichiro," Zero growled, poiting the Bloody Rose in his face.

"I'm just trying to ge my textbook from the class," Bryan responded, wiping blood from the edge of his mouth.

Yuki's eyes widened at the sight of blood on Bryan. "You really need to go. Like, now."

"You can get your books tommorow," Zero stated.

"The test is tommorow," Bryan replied, desperate.

"Tough. Now go."

All the sudden, on of the night students came out. She was slender, tall, pale, and exceedingly beautiful, with long, flowing blonde hair.

"I smell blood," she said longingly, with a smile that barely covered a set of fangs.

"Bryan, go. NOW." Yuki said, worry lacing her voice.

"Bryan...hmmmm... I found this textbook in my desk with that name." She replied, holding up a textbook and tossing it over to Bryan.

"Thanks," Bryan said as he caught the book.

"No problem. Nice to meet you. The names Ruka. Ruka Souen."

Bryan nodded, then began his way back to the dorm.

Ruka turned to Yuki, smiling devilishly.

"Who was that tasty morsel?" She inquired.

"No one. Don't even think about it, Ruka," Yuki responded.

"I wouldn't dream of it," Ruka replied, staring out as Bryan slowly made his way to the boy's dorm.
