Out in the Country

Sure, the tree was digging into his back a little, and he was pretty sure at least one leg had fallen asleep under a sleeping Hermione while he read.

But the sun shone through the branches, splashing splotches of gold onto the green. Remus heard the children running, screaming, giggling in the distance.

It was nice out in the country. Men didn't tell Remus to keep away; mothers didn't pull children across the street to avoid him. They had plenty of land with wards to keep Remus at bay when necessary, but also to keep the intolerant out.

Remus sighed.
