TITLE: Thank you
AUTHOR: Meloko
EMAIL: faithz_angel@hotmail.com
CATEGORY: S/D, song fic-based on a Dido song
SPOILERS: None, only the song if you haven't heard it
SEASON/SEQUEL: Season 3
RATING: PG CONTENT WARNINGS: Very soppy SUMMARY: The Dido song Thank you, written as a story, relating to Sam and Daniel DISCLAIMER: None of this is mine; the actual story is written by yours truly, but the characters and name etc, don't belong to me. The song is written by Dido, and I have no rights to it. AUTHOR'S NOTES: This is my favourite song, and I thought it would make a great story. I would also like to point out, what a talented singer Dido is; she writes her own songs and can sing live brilliantly, I can say that as I went to her concert. It was excellent. If you haven't heard the song,
it's going to be big; also the first verse is the chorus to Enimem's
'Stan'.
Thankyou
Daniel woke up and expected Sam to be at his side. He glanced at the bed cabinet beside him and saw she'd left a, now cold, cup of tea; he needed a cup after the night he'd had. A splitting headache was a small price to pay for an amazing night with one you love, especially if you've just moved in together. He reluctantly got out of bed and looked out of the window; the usual blue sky was covered, he sighed another day of rain. He couldn't stand the dreary grey that covered the beauty of the skies, adding to the headache, he was feeling down but found his eyes looking at his dresser. There standing out, as if by illuminated, was a picture; an image of their special love for one another; in each other's arms. A certain Colonel had offered to take it and he was glad he had done. The picture lightened him up and he decided that life wasn't so bad after all. He looked at his watch and read 9.30; he was dead meat when they caught up with him. He got dressed quickly but the pain of a hangover returned. He swayed slightly and waited till the room was back in place to grab a cup of coffee. He saw a note, from Sam.
"Sorry, my cars at the garage, I borrowed yours, please forgive me sweetheart. You'll have to take the bus, see you at work. I had no choice. Yours' forever Sam"
The price of love. Daniel was hardly fond of public transport but, for her, anything. He had to physically stop himself from going back to the land of nod, so he quickly grabbed an aspirin; his head was throbbing. As he walked out of the door he tripped over the post; he picked them up. "Bills, bills....bills, do I ever get anything else?" he wondered as he left the house. "Now for the bus stop"
~
Daniel was reminded of why he hated public transport; it was half an hour late. "So much for one every ten minutes!". When the bus finally came: an old Banger; Daniel was seriously wondering whether he'd ever get to work as this machine could break down at any moment. Sure enough he arrived; two hours later than expected but he was here; which he believed to be a miracle. He was just walking down the corridor; trying to be as inconspicuous as possible when......
"You're a bit late Danny boy aren't you?"
"I've..."
Jack cut him off. "Don't say you've been here a while; I just saw you come in, liar. Bet you've got a splitting headache"
"I did but thank to the miracle of aspirin, it's gone, wait a sec....how did you?......" he wondered.
"Well Sam. mentioned you'd be out last night and I know what your like with alcohol"
"Excuse me, you make me out to be an alcoholic or something; I rarely drink"
"So why do you have a hangover?" he asked.
"I didn't say I never get drunk" Daniel defended.
"Bye Daniel, I'll see you later. If you last the day"
"Bye Jack".
"I don't get drunk that often" he reassured himself.
~
"Daniel" a sweet voice called. In his eyes it couldn't be more melodious.
He looked up from his littered desk and saw a beautiful woman. "Sam" he replied lovingly.
Any thoughts of melancholy fell from his mind.
"I'm sorry I took the car". She looked at him adoringly, with her most angelic voice.
He just couldn't resist her and not a single thought except her, remained in his mind.
"You had to" he reasoned. "I don't mind, you've just brightened up my day"
"Your such a romantic"
"To be with you, is like seventh heaven, It's like a dream when I'm with you in a forever, it's a perfect day"
"You really know how to get to a girls heart". She was so lucky. "Why did you suddenly think of that?"
"It just got thinking about what's most precious to me" he looked deep into her eyes and Sam felt her heart beat faster. "You".
She walked over to him and they're lips touched and..........
"Carter" he stopped. "Was this one of those soppy moments?"
They parted.
"You're such a romantic Jack" Sam commented.
"One of the scientists wants to have a word with you"
"And they would be?"
"What now you expect their name?" he said in a voice that was meant to demonstrate his 'disgust'. "Demanding aren't you!"
Sam gave Jack a how-dare-you look.
"Well all scientists look the same to me, does it really matter?" he looked at his watch. "You're going to be late"
Sam was furious. "One of these day, Jack I swear"
"Was that a threat, Major?"
She walked out infuriated. "See you later Daniel"
Jack left after her.
"Now back to work" he thought as he looked at his four foot high pile of papers in dismay.
~
Daniel entered the building soaking; the sky had opened just as he got off the bus. He walked to the lift leaving a trail of water behind him and reached his apartment, correction their apartment. He unlocked the oak door and opened it. There in front of him was his lover, equipped with a towel.
She handed him the towel. "You're soaking"
The words didn't even register in his mind; all he could do was look at her. At that moment he wouldn't even notice if the house fell down because when he was alone with her, he just didn't have a clue that they're was anything but her.
He went over to kiss her, forgetting that he was soaking through and through, but it bothered neither of them. The kiss was deep and Daniel fell into paradise.
"Thank you Sam"
"For what?" she was confused; she hadn't done anything.
"For giving me the best day of my life"
"Daniel, I made you catch the bus, you hate ...."
"No Sam, to be with you is having the best day of my life".
They kissed passionately and went to cloud nine.
