It had been a rough night. Jason had just been beaten and fired by the guy he sold tires to. He would have to find a new one.
He entered the house and locked the door. He shrugged off his jacket and lazily through it on the couch. He was about to go to sleep when he noticed his mom was not on the couch he had left her on.
"Mom?" he called. There was no answer.
He immediately searched the crappy apartment until he saw the bathroom light on. He breathed a sigh of relief. Mom was probably using it.
He was about to turn when he saw the bathroom door was a little ajar. Usually his Mom would have answered. Even if she was taking a crap.
He slowly stalked towards the door. He said again,"Mom, you in there?"
Again no response.
He slowly pushed the door open and was horrified to see his mother with eyes closed slouched against the wall on the floor with a needle in her arm. He rushed over and shook her.
"Mom?" he asked her.
He then looked and saw her chest wasn't moving. His shaking of her stopped. His eyes widened and he put his head gently over her heart. Her not beating heart. He looked over at his mother, tears brimming in his eyes.
One last time he hugged his dead mother and cried,"MOM!"
Jason immediately woke up, his throat raw from screaming. He closed his eyes.
It was the day. The day his mother died. The first person to care for him.
After a few minutes he got up and made himself breakfast. The day flew past as he just watched shows that Catherine had liked. He could still hear her laughter. Though each time he did, he wanted to cry.
Finally, at ten, he got up and pocketed some money. He went to a nearby flower store and got some bluebells. They were Catherine's favorite.
He then headed towards the cemetery. He made his way to her head stone, which had vines growing on it. He cleared them away and put the flowers on her grave. He then sat down in front of it, bringing his knees to his chest.
"Hi mom," he said, looking with hollow eyes.
"You know, I still love you no matter what anyone says. Actually what they say about you makes me want to punch them," he added. His eyes grew glassy.
"They say I didn't deserve you. That you let the drugs take you. That you didn't care," he choked out a sob.
"But, actually, you were the one who deserved more. You shouldn't have had to deal with Willis or me. You were possibly the kindest person I've ever met. I don't care what they say Mom, you were the best...and sometimes I wished I stayed dead, if that meant I could still see you."
Then, the deadly Red Hood cried. He cried and stayed there all night. And none of the bats would ever know.
Hello so this was kind of angsty but I felt like it needed to be said. I've heard people trash Catherine Todd a lot, but I felt like she must have been something to Jason for him not to abandon her. Idk I just made this as a little mother's day thing.
