I Need You
Hermione sat on a bench that faced the lake, all alone. The lake was calm that day, but she wasn't. She was fighting all the emotions she felt for one boy. And that boy was Harry. Yes Harry Potter, the boy who lived, and one of her two best friends. A she liked him. She sat there and stared, and out of nowhere, she began to sing. She didn't know where the lyrics came from, or how she knew them, but she continued to sing.
~I don't need a lot of things~
~I can get by with nothing~
~Of all the blessings life can bring~
~I've always needed something~
~But I've got all I want~
~When it comes to loving you~
~You're my only reason~
~You're my only truth~
"Hey!"
Hermione
turned around to see Harry, fifty yards away, walking towards her. She muttered
a 'hi' and turned around quickly to avoid having him see her blushing. She
realized that the lyrics of the mysterious song were still floating in her
head, so she whispered them in an attempt to get them out.
~I need you~
~Like water~
~Like breath~
~Like rain~
~I need you~
~Like mercy~
~From heaven's gate~
~There's a freedom in your arms~
~That carries me through~
~I need you~
"Hey there," Harry said as he reached her and sat sown. She straightened with a jolt, wondering how much he had heard.
"Whatcha doin? He asked her.
"Nothing, just sitting her, staring at the lake…in silence," she added the last part just to be sure.
"Then what are you singing?"
"I don't know Harry, I don't know."
"Well…it sounded pretty, do you know anymore?"
As if on cue, more lyrics floated into her head.
"I guess so…"
"Sing it for me, please."
"Ok…" she said uncertainly, and began to sing.
~You're the hope that moves me~
~To courage again~
~You're the love that rescues me~
~When the cold winds rage~
~And it's so amazing~
~Cause that's just how you are~
~And I can't turn back now~
~Cause you've brought me too far~
She stopped abruptly, and Harry looked at her.
"Continue, please, you have such a pretty voice."
Hermione smiled," I wish I could, I'd love to, but I can't, I don't know it," but then, as if to prove her wrong, a new wave of lyrics rushed into her head, so she began to sing.

~I need you~

"It's truly beautiful," Harry said.
"Yeah, I just wished I knew where it came from."
"Just like you," he added as an afterthought.
"Huh?"
"I like you Hermione, as more than just a friend, and I…I guess I just wanted you to know."
"Harry," she whispered back, and a smile played on her lips as she sang part of the song, "I need you, like water, like breath, like rain."
"And I you," he said, putting an arm around her, and pulling her closer so she was leaning against him.
"I need you, like mercy from heaven's gate," she whispered so softly, it was almost like breathing. She allowed herself to wrap her arms around his waist, and he pulled her closer.
"There's a freedom in you arms, that carries me through," she continued.
"Hermione," he said stopping her, and she looked up. He leaned down as gently kissed her and she shivered. A moment later, the kiss was broken and Hermione looked at Harry.
"I need you."
