Teddy sat there, like he did ever year on this day, on the day of the Battle at Hogwarts had happened. The day his parents died, the parents he never knew, and will never get to know. He came here every year to just sit in front of the memorial for his parents, to look back and try to remember the few weeks he had been with them.
He had heard many stories from his godfather, and all of his friends. His mother had been happy, and proud, until a year after she met Teddy's father. Then, she grew to love him, and although he loved her back, he wouldn't start a relationship with her, saying he was too old and too dangerous. More stories were told to Teddy, and he soon knew that they got married eventually, and Nymphadora Tonks became pregnant with him.
One story that struck Teddy as odd though, was that after the news of Teddy, his father Remus Lupin, left him in his mother's stomach alone, and left her to go help Harry Potter.
If his father had really loved her, then why did he leave?
But the thing that really bugged Teddy, was why had they both left him, left him to fend for himself, left this world altogether. How could they leave a two week old child? Why would they allow a child to grow up with no parents?
Of course he understood his father's reason for battling. He had taught Teddy's godfather, Harry, and treated him like a son, when Harry's own father and godfather had both died. And when the time had come for Remus to protect Harry, he had gone and done his duty.
His mother, on the other hand, had left Teddy to make sure his father was safe. Honestly though, he was the one in danger … the one in danger of losing both his parents.
Teddy wanted to talk to his mom, to ask for her reasoning. When he had spoken of this out loud one dinner, Harry had told him his mother had left him safely at his grand mum's.
So that was the reason why he came to this place every year. To him, it gave him answers, answer he could not get anywhere else. Even though Teddy knew for a fact that they were both dead, he still sometimes felt their presence, sometimes even heard voices he assumed to be theirs.
He would sometimes speak out loud to the memorial when no one was watching. He mostly told it about his life at Hogwarts, and in the wizarding world. But on this night, he had something else he wanted to tell it.
"Well, I've finally graduated from Hogwarts … last year just after I was here last," he told it, because he believed that his parents could hear his voice through the stone and rock of the memorial. Teddy thought it was crazy, so he never spoke of this to anyone else, but he still felt some small comfort in this action. "I am now dating Victoire Weasley, Bill and Fleur's child – I mean, I was dating Victoire, or, really, I don't want to anymore … "
He paused.
"I want to propose, and I think I will. I've ask Bill. He's agreed, but made me promise I wouldn't do it until she's out of school too. So that's what I'm going to do … I'm going to propose … I'm going to get married! As long as she says yes of course …"
He sighed, wishing his parents were actually here.
"I am getting married mum … I'm getting married dad … I'm actually getting married …" Teddy took one last look at the memorial, picked up his bag, and left, a single tear falling down his face.
"We're so proud of you Teddy …"
