Eternal Haze

By: RedHairRurouniFan

Hey guys! I'm back with a new story! I'm actually expecting to post a new multi-chapter fic soon, so stay tuned! And when you get to the bottom, read my end notes! I need y'all to vote for me!

Disclaimer: I do not own RK, nor do I own the quote where I borrowed an idea from by David Viscott, "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides."

Kamiya Kaoru.

The Battousai's woman.

Himura Kenshin's only weakness.

She's the antithesis of a typical woman. She can't cook. She earns her own living. She practices kendo and isn't ashamed of it. For a man like Battousai, who has lived his life in war, why forgo the domestic comforts of having a proper wife? He cooks, he cleans, he even does laundry. But if he wanted, he could live a luxurious life if he called in all the favors he's garnered over the years. But he doesn't. He chooses Kamiya Kaoru.

She doesn't listen to him. He left for Kyoto, but she followed. He battled Shishio. She battled the juppongatana. He fought for her life. She fought for his. What compelled her to follow him into the lion's mouth? She knew she was walking into a life threatening battle. But she didn't care. She chose Kenshin over life.

Their relationship was always obvious to outsiders. One look, and they knew. They call it love. Self-sacrifice. Unconditional acceptance. The way they gaze into each other's eyes, as if the world melts away. Is that love?

How would it feel to be loved so unconditionally? So passionately. So quietly. So eternally. Would it feel like the sun shining in from every side? But without the burn. Would it be like smelling a rose? Without the thorns. Would it be like seeing the first snow? Without the cold. Would it be everything good in life? Without any of the bad?

No. Love takes the good and the bad, and mixes them together until you can't see where the good ends and the bad begins. You're lost in a never-ending haze, but it's sweet, it's bitter, and it's everything in between.

Himura Kenshin's greatest strength.

Kenshin's wife.

Himura Kaoru.

So… I entered a writing contest for Nicholas Sparks, and I need people to vote for my submission to win. So could you guys please go to the following link and vote for the story called Fool For a Penny? The link should take you directly there.

I think you have to make an account to vote, but all it really needs is your email. When you get to the story, click the heart under tags to vote! I'll love you guys forever if you do this for me! (Not that I don't love all my readers anyway.)

Just don't forget to delete the spaces in the link! If you think that's too much hassle, just go to figment . com, and then search Fool For a Penny. You should get a story by Lucy (me), with the tag sparkscontest, and a picture of a bride in a wedding gown holding a bouquet of blue and white flowers. So go click that little heart! And leave me a comment if you love me!

Thank you all so much! Love you guys!
