Biting at the air, Chibiterasu jumped and clawed at the air to get a butterfly. It would flutter just out of reach every time he would get close to catching it.
"Chibi, what are you doing?" Kuni asked, petting Chibiterasu's head. He barked and jumped again at the butterfly.
"Oh, you want the butterfly? I'll get it for you." Kuni said, running up to the butterfly. He hopelessly grabbed at the air, just as unsuccessful as Chibi. It soon floated away, deciding that it was done teasing Chibi and Kuni.
"Aw man... It left. Let's go find another one!" Kuni said excitedly. Chibi tilted his head, slightly confused.
"You don't want to find another?" Kuni asked, petting Chibi's head. He shook his head in reply.
"Well I am." Kuni said, running towards the Guardian Sapling. He scrambled up the tree, knocking the precious fruit to the ground.
"Hey Chibi! There's a golden butterfly up there! I'm gonna get it!" He yelled from the tree. Chibiterasu walked up and sat at the base of the tree. He climbed to the top branch, being as quiet as possible. He shot his hand out, grabbing the golden butterfly.
"Look! I got it!" Kuni yelled, waving his closed fist around. Chibiterasu barked, wagging his tail quickly. Kuni scrambled back down the tree, smiling from ear to ear. Kuni sat on the ground across from Chibi. He got really close, so when he opened his hand, they could catch the butterfly if it escaped.
Slowly opening his hand, the butterfly was still, letting them take in the beauty.
"Wow.. It's beautiful..." Kuni said, his eyes wide with amazement. Chibi, started wagging his tail more.
"Let's go show it to mom! She'll love it!" Kuni said, closing his fist again. He jumped up, and ran towards his house. Chibiterasu chased after him, excitement in his eyes.
Bursting through the door, Kuni scared his mother who was cooking lunch. Kushi turned aroung from the food to look at Chibi and Kuni with their prize.
"Mom! look at what we caught! It's a golden butterfly!" Kuni said, holding the butterfly out to his mother.
"Ahhaha... O- Okay Kuni... t- take that thing back outside... I- I don't like bugs..." She said, backing up.
"Sorry mom... Me and Chibi just thought you would like it..." Kuni said, disappointed. They slowly walked out of the house, unsure what to do now.
"Maybe we can go release it by the Guardian Sapling, where we found it." Kuni said, Chibi barked. They walked back to the sapling, preparing to release the butterfly. Kuni let the butterfly go, a tear running down the side of his face. It fluttered away, leaving gold sparkles in its trail. Chibi barked, and then slowly wagged his tail.
"Bye-bye butterfly..." Kuni said waving. It flew back to the top of the tree, where it was sitting before.
"That was fun Chibi!" Kuni said, trying to sound enthusiastic. Chibi barked and two butterflies flew up to them.
"Wow! Two more! That's awesome!" Kuni said, smiling.
