Yuuta Kannagi a Child Genius and son of a CEO, after the death of his mother his father began ignoring him. Later his father remarried and had another child with her. To escape reality Yuuta got into gaming, he later met Kayaba and became an Administrator who helped him design Sword Art Online. He later became one a Beta Tester, now will he be able to survive the Death Game SAO.

Chapter One: LINK START!

Inside of a Kendo Dojo, Yuuta was in the middle of the arena with his protective equipment on and battle against a senior member. The senior was slashing Yuuta relentlessly, while he parried his attacks effortlessly.

Yuuta narrowed his eyes as the senior started slashing his practice sword downwards, Yuuta slashed his sword upwards knocking the senior's sword into the air. As it was coming back down, Yuuta caught it and pointed both of them at the senior.

The other Kendo members stared at him with an amazed expression, before they all started clapping wildly. Yuuta removed his helmet revealing his snow white hair and sweaty face, and wiped it off his forehead.

"Perfect as always Kannagi-Senpai!"

"He acts like he's sooo cool!"

"You're just made because you've never beat him."

Yuuta bowed and handed the senior back his practice sword while heading, he turned around and started heading towards the lockers room. Yuuta took off all his practice uniform and jumped into the showers in the dojo's lockers room.

"Today's finally the day that I get to try it out. Sword Art Online 'The World of the Swords'."

Once Yuuta stepped outside of the dojo he was wearing a white shirt with black lines on his sleeves, with blue jeans and shoes with headsets around his next. He walked outside of the locker room with his Dojo duffle back slouched over his shoulders. As he was walking outside he started hearing three of the male students talked about him.

"Just look at him, the Scion of the Kannagi Corporation."

"He has no idea what it's like to be normal and actually pay for anything."

Yuuta stopped and sighed out of annoyance, before turning towards the three males.

"My family was poor just like yours, he just worked harder and made his Company one of the top in the world. If you're tired of being poor then do something about it and stop complaining like a child."

"What was that you bastard?!"

As the three males started charging at them, but were stopped as a familiar thirteen year old girl with black hair, dark gray eyes and wearing a school uniform stepped in front of them.

"Would you three stop messing with Kannagi-Senpai, he works just as hard as anyone here!"

The three males clicked their tongues and walked away out of irritation with sour looks on their faces. As the girl was sighing out of relief, she felt someone patting her on her head. She turned around and saw Yuuta smiling slightly at her.

"Ever the hard worker as always huh, Sugu-Chan."

"Yep, but you need to stop letting those guys get to you."

"Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself. Sorry I'd like to talk to you more Sugu-Chan, but I got to go take care of something at home."

"Okay, Kannagi-Senpai!"

Yuuta walked outside of the Dojo and found a black limo waiting for him outside, Yuuta's expression became more tensed. A man dressed in a black suit stepped outside and opened the door to the passenger's side.

He sighed and started walking towards the car, until he finally stepped inside with his duffle bad resting at his feet. In across from him was a Male CEO wearing an expensive looking back suit, with black hair and blue eyes like Yuuta's.

And sitting next to him was a women, with brown hair, red eyes and wearing a dress. Lying down on her lap was an eight year old little girl with brown hair and wearing an Elementary School Uniform. Yuuta made a near emotionless look as the man started to talk.

"So Yuuta, how'd you match go?"

"Same as always, I dominated them."

Both of them looked away from each other, while the women started looking at both of them pleadingly.

"Oh, come on can't the two of you just talk…you haven't spoken since…"

"I doubt this guy has anything to say to me."

Yuuta placed his headsets over his ear and started playing music to drown everything out. Once the car stopped at a mansion sized house, Yuuta stepped outside the limo and grabbed his duffle bag.

"And besides you two have your own kid to worry about…I don't need a parent."

Yuuta placed his duffle bag over his shoulders and started walking towards the front door.

"Yuu can't you try talking to him for once? Yuuta-Kun always has that sad and lonely look in his eyes since his… And he won't listen to me when I try and talk to him."

"Minako I…I can't talk to him…besides, its Masako's birthday today and I don't want to ruin the mood."

"…Fine, but afterwards we'll…"

Minako looked down and noticed that her daughter wasn't resting on her lap.

"How does she keep doing that?"

[Yuuta's Bedroom]

Inside Yuuta's room it was filled with several computer software, games, several books about technology and anything related to it. Yuuta was sitting on his bed setting up the software for SAO (Sword Art Online), Yuuta plugged up the Ethernet plug and placed the cartridge inside of the NerveGear.

"Onii-Chan what're you doing?"

Yuuta turned his head and saw his half-sister looking at him with her eyes which were the same shade as his. Yuuta placed the NerveGear and turned towards her.

"I'm just setting something up for a new game Masako."

He looked as her expression started becoming more bright and flamboyant.

"Oh! Can I play too?!"

"Sorry, but this is my only copy."

Masako pouted at his response, Yuuta smiled slightly and reached into his desk drawer, placed something in his hand and called Masako over. She walked over with a curious expression on her face, Yuuta placed a necklace with a gold heart locket.

"Happy Birthday, Masako."

She looked at the necklace with a bright smile and her eyes beaming.

"Ohhh, where'd you get this?"

"It belonged to my mother…so please look after it 'kay."

Yuuta poked Masako in her forehead and she gave him an adorable pout, but she smiled bright at him just before hugging him.

"Thank you, you truly are the best and coolest Onii-Chan ever!"

Yuuta smiled at what she said and patted her back.

"Alright, after I get done playing my game. We'll do whatever you want to do alright…and your mom can come to."

"You'd better keep your promise."

Masako ran outside of the room with a smile on her face, once she left Yuuta closed the door behind her. He walked back towards his head and placed the NerveGear on his bed, while lying down on his bed. As the lights on the NerveGear started turning on Yuuta smirked.

"Link Start!"

His mind was transported through a series of bright colored lines, until he made it towards a serious of options.

In the middle of the first town, a steam of bright blue light started shining down in a single area. And Yuuta's character Vali looked like a handsome seventeen year old male, with white spikey hair, red eyes and wearing the basic gear for a male character.

"As a Former Beta-Tester, I'm going to beat this game and reach floor 100!"

[Several Minutes Later]

Vali was in the fields fighting against a large wild boar, with its large tusks pushing back while he blocked it with plain short sword. Vali stepped back and started running forward away from the boar, its eyes blinked a bright red and charged at him.

As it was close to running him over, Vali pressed his foot against the ground and jumped over the boar's body. Once he landed on the ground, he rested his short sword and it started glowing with a bluish white light. And Vali took off with lightning-fast speed and slashed through the large boar killing it instantly.

Once Vali gained his experience points he smirked and sheathed his sword, while stretching his arms.

"Those Kendo Lessons really payed off."

"Ouch!"

"Seriously, you shouldn't even be able to feel the pain."

Vali turned his head as he heard two separate voices, he started walking towards the source until he found a teen with black hair and another one with reddish brown hair killing a boar with a curved sword. Vali narrowed his eyes at the black hair teen and smirked.

"Hey, is that you Kirito?!"

Kirito turned around and saw Vali walking towards them, he smiled and started waving at him. Once Vali was close enough both of them fist bumped with a smirk on both of their faces.

"It's been a long time Vali."

"Yea, I think it was since you stole that last hit kill on a monster I was fighting during our time in the Beta Test, you Ratty Swordsman."

"Oh, come on. When will you get over that?"

Kirito turned around just as the teen with reddish brown hair tapped him on his shoulder.

"Wait do you guys know each other?"

"Yea Klein, this guy was lucky enough to be an assistant to the designer of this Game and he even designed some of the areas on some of the higher floors."

Klein looked at Vali with a completely shocked expression, before Vali waved off what Kirito had said.

"Akihiko-San was a friend of my dad's when they were growing up, so when he found out I was his son he chose me as his assistant. And besides the only thing I did was design the Cardinal System, the Environment and some of the Sword Skill and during all of that I had some help from Akihiko-San."

Vali looked as Klein was eyeing him with a suspicious expression.

"What?"

"Did you have to sound all high and mighty when he said that?! Seriously are you some kind of rich kid genius prodigy or something?!"

"Basically."

"What?!"

Kirito started laughing at Klein's reaction, while laughing at Vali's expression.

"I see you still antagonize people without knowing you're doing it."

"Let's cut the chitchat and teach this newbie a thing or two."

"Now you're speaking my language!"

The three of them unsheathed their weapons and started charging for the boars in the area together.

[In Real Life] [One Hour Later]

Outside in the backyard, a large party was being thrown for Masako's birthday, where all of her friends from school and even some of their parents joined in the festivities. Sitting down watching Masako having fun with her friends were her parents Yuuta and Minako.

"Just look at her, she's having a blast. But she was happier getting that present from Yuuta-Kun."

"He's been holding onto that since his mother passed, and when he was looking for someone to comfort him. I could never bear to look at him because he looked too much like Mizuki, I don't even have the right to call myself his or even Masako's father."

He was later pulled into a hug by Minako from behind, while she rested her head on his shoulders.

"How about after he gets done playing his new game, we all just sit down and talk this over okay?"

Yuu smirked and placed his hand on hers.

"I may be the CEO, but you're always right in these situations. Huh…"

"Iyaah!"

Yuu and everyone else listened in as one of the parents started screaming, with their phone falling to the ground. Minako ran over and tried calming her down.

"What's wrong Yukiko?"

"M-My son…"

As she was explaining what had happened Yuu's cellphone started ringing, once he pulled it out he answered it and placed it to his ear.

"Hello, Akihiko? Hey are you coming by?"

{Hello Yuu. I terribly sorry for what's about to happen, but I felt that I had to call you first before you find out over the news.}

"Akihiko what're you talking about?"

{It was never my intention of getting Yuu-Kun involved in this, but it must've be fate that I met the son of my childhood friend. You might want to take Yuu-Kun to the hospital and don't remove the NerveGear or else…}

Yuu's expression became more fearful than angry.

"…Or else what?"

"Yuu!"

He looked up as Minako ran over towards him, with a panicked expression on her face and tears falling from her eyes.

"Yuu! Yukiko's son was playing that game Yuuta-Kun was talking about, and he…and he…"

{…you'll lose him…he'll die.}

Yuu dropped his cellphone and turned towards the opening to the backdoor, without hesitation he ran towards into the house and towards Yuuta's room.

"YUUTA!"

[Inside Sword Art Online] [1st Floor Meadows]

Within the span of an hour, Vali, Kirito and Klein had increased their stats and levels considerably. The three of them were all sitting on the ground and began talking to each other about the game.

"Man I can't believe you actually designed a good portion of this game."

"Akihiko-San's the real genius, all of this was all his idea."

"Don't cut yourself short, I'm still jealous that you got to work with my role model."

Klein then jumped up with a smirk on his face, while he opened his menu.

"Well, I'll see you guys later. I got a pizza to check up on."

"I suppose you're right, besides I still need to keep my promise to me sis…"

"Guys where is the logout button?

Both Vali and Kirito looked at him with a confused expression, Kirito sighed and opened his menu and went towards the logout button.

"What're you talking about its right…what the."

Kirito looked at where the logout button was supposed to be, but it wasn't there. Vali sighed as he saw both of theirs and his own menu bar.

"Geez, it's probably a malfunction…the people outside are probably losing it right about now."

"Argus is going to take a big hit because of this."

At that moment a loud bell started going off, echoing throughout the area. The three of them looked around trying to find the source, but the three of them were engulfed with a towering blue light. They were dematerialized and later rematerialized in an area with the several thousand players along with them.

"Forced Transportation?"

"But the only one who could do that is the…GM (Game Master)."

Everyone looked up as the sky started turned dark red, several hexagons started appearing in the sky and a blood-like liquid started dripping from the sky until it came together forming into a single person. A massive man, who towered over them wearing a bright cloak that covered his face.

"My name is Kayaba Akihiko, and I am the sole creator and sole ruler of this world. I'm sure you've all realized that a single item is missing from your menus…the logout button. But this is not a malfunction, this is how Sword Art Online was meant to be."

Kayaba showed everyone the logout button that was in his menu, and everyone looked at him with a completely confused and shocked expression. Vali looked at him with his expression became more tensed than confused. He looked around as everyone around them started panicking and shouting.

"And I will also inform you that if your health reaches zero, then it will trigger the microwave within the NerveGear to go off and fry your brain. And if someone on the outside attempts to remove the NerveGear the same thing will occur."

"What're you talking about is this come kind of joke!"

"Th-This is just some kind of an event right?"

"Come on, he's joking right? Hey, Vali he's joking right?"

He turned towards Vali who was clenching his fist tightly, before opening his fist.

"I wish I could lie, but there are safeties on the NerveGear and if they're removed then it will fry our brains."

"Come on this is insane!"

"Guy's look."

Kirito pointed into the sky as Kayaba started playing several news reports of people whose parents have removed the NerveGear and died. And at that moment everyone realized that Kayaba Akihiko the creator of Sword Art Online and the Head Programmer wasn't playing around, he was really planning on killing them.

"Though your situation isn't completely hopeless, if you can complete every level of Aincrad from Floor 1 to Floor 100. Then you'll all be set free from this world, so level up, get stronger, gain more and more strength. And against the final boss, where I'll be waiting for you."

"Vali, but even we beta testers were barely able to make is to Floor 10, beyond that we're completely blind."

"Before I got, I left a present within your inventory. Please see for yourselves."

Everyone opened their inventories and found a single item labeled «Mirror», once it entered their hands everyone looked into the mirror and saw their own reflections. In seconds everyone were engulfed with a bright blue light. Once the light faded, they looked into the mirrors again and saw their actual faces not their avatars, but their actual faces.

Vali touched his face to make sure that he wasn't hallucinating, he looked towards Kirito and Klein and noticed that Kirito was a lot younger and Klein was a lot older.

"""Wait a second! Vali/Kirito/Klein!"""

"How did this happen? I understand why he has our faces, but what about our height and body-type"

"What that scan. Remember we had to touch all around our bodies, but why is he doing all of this?"

"He's about to tell us."

"At that moment, you must be asking yourselves why. Why would the creator of Sword Art Online put all of you in this situation? I wanted to create a world where I was the sole ruler, and now I've succeeded in my goal."

And at that moment Kayaba vanished back into the sky, leaving everyone with a shocked expression on their faces and they started panicking. Kirito looked around and quickly dragged both Vali and Klein into an empty alley and started explaining his plan to them.

"I'll meet up with you some other time, you still have me on your friend's list right? I need to find the Emergency Console and enter the Cardinal System."

"Sorry guys, but I need to find my friends back there. But don't worry, in the last game that I played I ran a guild. So I'm sure we'll be alright."

The three of them looked at each other and immediately promised each other to meet up with each other again. Once they were gone, Vali started walking throughout the area of the «Starting City», until he finally made it a dead-end. He held his hand up and pushed a brick open, at that moment he opened it.

Once he walked into the room, the door closed behind him. Inside of the room, there were several circuit lines running around the room and in the middle there was a consul. Once Vali ran towards it, he turned it on and started typing in a series of codes.

"System Login Administrator ID: Vali!"

The room started lighting up with a bright blue light, and the circuit lines started running towards the console.

"I have to try and forcibly log everyone out, even if it's not actual…wait, what's going on."

Every code that Vali tried entering wouldn't work, the system continued rejecting all of his attempts. As Vali was typing in other codes, he looked at his hands and noticed that his hands were shaking as he continued typing.

"Dammit...come on think, think the Beta-Testers may be able to survive. But the new players, the kids they won't be able to survive."

Vali looked and his eyes widened from a sudden realization, Vali cracked his knuckles and started typing in another program.

"I might not be able to log everyone out, but i can a least release some of the burden off of them."

From all around SAO, an audio message was delivered to the several Beta-Testers. Vali swallowed some spit and began to talk.

[All Beta-Testers who can hear my voice, my name is Vali an Administrator who helped build Sword Art Online. I'm looking through the Cardinal System and I'm unable to log everyone out of the game. So, I need everyone to gather up whatever data you have about the game, the monsters and the quests. And send them all to me.]

Seconds later, and more and more data from all the Beta-Testers were being sent towards him. He looked up and started complying all of the data that he had gathered, and created a single item. «Player's Guide»

"Thank You."

From all around the first floor the Beta-Testers smiled in agreement before heading off. Vali sighed out of relief, but another thought came to his head.

"No this isn't enough, but what else can I...that's it! The Ten Unique Skills."

Vali pulled up the «Ten Unique Skills», he looked at the screen and smiled.

"Good they're still programmed into the game, the Strongest Skill in the Game. If there are Ten Players int he game who can get these, then we can beat this game."

Vali left the room sealing the door behind him, he turned around while clenching his fist and started running. Passing by several of the children and teens too stunned to move, he clenched his teeth and began running faster and faster.

Until he made it to a valley, running into several boars and in seconds he killed every last one of them.

"Akihiko-San...no Kayaba I'm going to clear this game! There's no way in hell that I'm letting you win!"
