"Phil, hurry up we're going to be late!" Dan rushed into their bedroom, pulling the bright coloured duvet from his sleeping husband, shocking the man awake with a mumbled 'what?' "Get up, we're goin to be late," he reiterated, flicking the lights on before leaving the room in a hurry, his clothes in disarray as he tried to complete three tasks at once.
Glancing to the side Phil stared at the clock, wondering what his lover was doing up so early, it was only seven o'clock. Usually he was the one dragging him out of bed seconds before they had to leave.
"What's going on?" He yelled, slowly pulling himself from the warmth of his bed and stumbling to the door, slipping his glasses on as he looked about for the frantic Dan.
"You don't remember what today is? You're terrible Phil." He shouted back, the sound of a toaster popping up following just after. Blinking confused he looked through the calendar on his phone, nearly dropping it when he saw, a wide smile spreading across his face.
Tossing it to the bed he grabbed something brightly coloured from his wardrobe and ran to the bathroom, already having jumped in the shower before he realised that his glasses were still on.

Dan stood in the dining room, straightening out his clothes, he'd gone for his usual look, black on black with black shoes. Running his fingers through his straightened hair he obsessively fixed it, staring in the mirror and scrutinising his face picking out every miniscule flaw.
Taking a bite from a piece of toast he paced the floor, his heart hammering in his chest. This was it. This was the day. After three years of trying and countless hours of heartbreak. Today was finally the day. And Phil still wasn't ready!
Running to their bathroom he banged loudly on the door.
"Phil!" He yelled, "Hurry up! We've got to get going. The taxi will be here any minute now!"
"I'm coming. I'm just getting dressed."
The door opened seconds later revealing a dressed Phil with damp black hair pushed back from his face.
They shared a brief smile before a car's horn could be heard from outside.
"He's here! The taxi's here? But-but, it's too early. I should have another five minutes!" Phil clasped his hands onto his lover's shoulders, staring him straight in the eye.
"Calm down, my hair'll dry on the way. Let's go."
They walked outside slowly, Dan's fingers holding tightly to a small Winnie the Pooh toy. Climbing into the taxi they ordered the large driver to take them to the hospital. He gave them a gruff nod before taking off, offering small talk for the first few minutes before letting the ride continue on in silence.
Dan glanced anxiously out of the window, holding the toy to his chest and biting his lip to such an extent Phil feared he'd bite through it. Reaching across he pried one of his hands from the toy and entwined their fingers, letting him hold as tightly as he possibly could.
"What if he hates us?"
"He won't."
"But-"
"Dan, listen. He'd be crazy not to love you. You're the sweetest man alive. Trust me."
"You don't know that."
"I do."
"Phil, it's...it's just that, I-I always dreamed of this happening to me. I don't want to fuck it up."
"You won't. I promise."
"You can't promise that."
"I can and I did." Rubbing his thumb against the back of his hand they let a comfortable silence envelop them, Dan sinking into Phil as the ride continued, closing his eyes as he tried to calm himself.

Pulling up outside the hospital they shared a long look before climbing out, Dan handing the money over to the large male.
"Good luck." His gruff voice shocked them, he hadn't spoken since the drive began.
"Thank you." The younger managed to say, his voice shaking.
With a soft tug on his hand he led the brunet inside, his own heart flipping as he imagined what was to come. He could hardly hold in his excitement, they'd been trying for so long, and finally their dream would be a reality.

The woman at reception gave them directions to the room she was staying in, sending them on their way once they wrote the room number down. Taking the lift they went to the third floor where she was waiting for them.
They enter the room, eyes falling to their friend lying in the bed, her black hair pushed back from her face in a loose bobble and her protruding stomach covered by a thin hospital gown.
"Hey guys,"
"How're you feeling?" Dan asked, stepping closer to her and staring hesitantly down at her stomach.
"Little uncomfortable but good. The doctors are just prepping the operating room and I'll be going in. You excited?"
"Yeah, nervous too."
"Of course you are. Don't worry, he's doing great. All the stuff I'm hooked to say so." She noticed Dan's hazel eyes rarely leaving her stomach. "You can touch, what's inside belongs to you two." Despite her words he still hesitated to touch her belly, swallowing heavily as he did. Every time he touched the round lump he felt like he was dreaming. It was too good to think about.
"Thank you Cat." He managed to mumble, his eyes beginning to sting the longer he felt her stomach.
"What are friends for?"
Phil moved closer to her, placing his hand beside his husband's, their rings glinting off the bright lights.
The old doctor entered the room, her slightly wrinkled face landing on the three.
"Are you ready?" She asked, looking between Dan and Phil. "The father can come too, the other will have to stay behind."
"Oh, no they're both the dad. I'm just the oven it's their bun." She quickly clarified waiting to see her reaction.
"Alright then. Both can come if they wish." A look of mild surprise had flashed across her face but left almost instantly.
"What do you wanna do?" Phil asked, his hand on her stomach covering Dan's.
"I don't think I'd be able to watch. You can go."
"No, I'll wait with you. You'll only work yourself into a state." He gave a small laugh, his tongue poking out between his smiling lips. Nodding he retracted his hand, Phil doing the same, to allow for the nurses waiting outside to wheel Cat away.

They waited in the waiting room less than patiently, Dan pacing up and down obsessively, muttering about all the worst possible outcomes.
"She's been in there too long. Something's gone wrong. What if he's got a problem? What if he's born still? What if-"
"Dan!" Phil cut in, grasping onto his wrist and pulling him into his strong arms, holding him secure to his chest. "Calm down, you're going to drive yourself insane. Just relax."
"But Phil..."
"No buts. It's only been fifteen minutes; it'll take longer than that to deliver a baby."
"I know, it's just that, I'm scared."
"I know you are. But I'm here. So don't be."
"Okay." Pressing his lips softly to the others he sighed softly, feeling slightly calmer.

"Dan Howell, Phil Lester?" Their heads snapped up at the voice, their hearts speeding up in dread. "Come this way please." Catching the smile on her face they could feel the worry drain from them, taking the other's hand they followed closely behind her trying to keep their paces at a walk.
She waited outside Cat's room to allow them to enter. Inside the black haired woman lay, a smile on her face but her arms empty.
"Where is he?"
"Relax, they tried to give him to me but I refused. I wanted you guys to hold him before I did." She placed her hand on a hospital cot. "He's in here."
"Go look." Phil tapped him on the back urging him forwards, taking the toy from his clenched hands before he left allowing him to pick the baby up.
Dan stood over the cot staring down at the sleeping baby. His brown hair lying thinly over his head and his pale skin blending in with the bedding beneath him. Reaching down he scooped his hands underneath the baby, his hands holding securely to his neck and body. Bringing him to his chest he held his head to his heart, letting him feel the steady beat.
Brown eyes shone with love as he stared at his round face, he was perfect. Small hands were clenched into tight fists and held to his chest while the soft blue blanket kept him warm. Dan could feel tears welling up in his eyes the longer he held on, a soft smile on his lips as he brought his face down to lightly kiss the baby's forehead.
"Phil," he started, looking up at his lover with teary eyes. "We have a baby."
"We do." He replied, eyes equally tear filled. Walking over to him he brushed his brown hair from his eyes, watching as the baby cracked open his eyes to revel bright blue orbs.
"He has your eyes."
"Congratulations guys. And while he's cute I think it's more important that you give him a name."
"I have a name."
"What is it?"
"Winston..."
"We're not calling our son Winston, Phil."
"Please?"
"No. Besides I have a better name."
"What?"
"Dillon,"
"Dillon?"
"Yes." A smile took over Phil's face at his lover's hopeful expression.
"I like it."
Pressing a soft kiss to his lover's lips he nuzzled against his face softly, his fingers stroking the child's face gently as he slowly fell back to sleep.
"I love you."
"And I love you."
"Hey Phil," Dan added after a moment of content silence. "I may have forgotten to put up the crib."
This is my first attempt at a Dan and Phil Phanfic and as I'm parentPhan af at the moment I figured I'd try my hand at one. Probably not very good though, hopefully it wasn't too bad it was unreadable. Please tell me what you think and how I can improve cos I love these two and would love to try writing more for them.
