Last Goodbye

Last Goodbye

I cuddle with my baby boy,

And sang him softly, a lullaby.

His sorrowful eyes were lit in joy,

But I knew - he was born to cry.

I kissed lightly, my fingertips,

Pressed them against his tender cheek,

Into happiness he would take one last dip,

Before his mother goes, devastated, weak.

He looked at me, a soft cry,

Oh, my son! For you, what lies ahead?

But nobody can stop me, nobody will try,

My feelings are simple, my heart is red.

And so, let this be -

One last moment, decades too soon,

But we twirled, you and me,

Realize, you're never alone.

I hear your laughter,

You see my tears,

I leave the world, thereafter,

Your cries forever ringing in my ears…
