(A/N):Okay I just felt like writing this while hearing a song. So don't blame me. Actually I really don't like this sort of story but... well the idea just plopped up in my head. ^^
So just enjoy :)
Oh and still, English is not my first language.

Disclaimer: Own neither Neji nor Tenten

-Let her go-

It had started with a normal mission. An A-Rank one, but they had dealt with them easily before. Besides this A-Rank mission was easy. They just had to escort the son of a rich merchant.
So how could that happen?
Right now, there were two people in the clearing. The sun shined brightly, gave the scene a warm atmosphere. The blood that was splattered on the ground gleamed and the iron of the kunais shimmered and glanced. It made a light contrast to the dark green grass and the russet color where the green was tainted by the blood.
Neji leaned over a barely breathing Tenten, brushing blood away from her face. One of her buns was loose, her hair down and covered with dirt and blood.
"I- I… am… sorry… Ne-", Tenten started in a husky a brattle voice.
"Shhh. It's okay Ten. Lee is going to get help. You'll see, everything's going to be okay." He smiled warmly at her. Neji himself was tainted with blood and dirt, his white clothing dirty. She smiled back. "You…. Know...Ne-", she coughed a gush of blood, "... may- maybe I should…..have dodged."
Neji nearly laughed. That was his Tenten. "It doesn't matter, you'll be okay ", he repeated softly. Tenten sighed, relaxed a little bit. "Right…"
Neji knew that he lied, so knew Tenten, he just denied the obvious. But the growing puddle of blood which collected under his beloved teammate was hard to ignore. The man stared in the forest while stroking Tentens cheek. Where was Lee? Lee was the fastest person he knew, just why needed he so long? If it would be another situation he would be glad that Lee was away. It would be like a dream, Tenten in his lap in a clearing, the sun warm and nearly orange in the afternoon. It gave the scene a dreamily atmosphere.
A cough brought Neji back to reality, made him remember that they were surrounded by blood and Tenten on the edge of dying.
When Neji looked back to his beloved teammate and friend he saw that her eyes were cloudy, her breathing silent and slow. "Hey, Ten", he said, the voice trembling, "just a little bit longer, Lee will be here any minute. Just hold on, you'll be okay." She opened her half-lidded eyes. A glimmer came back to her brown eyes. But it wasn't the hoped sign of life; the glimmer was caused by tears which collected in her eyes. Tenten smiled softly at Neji. "I… know. But… just in case. We'll…see each other, right? Over there, …. on the other side, right?" Neji's pale eyes filled with tears. "Of course, Ten." More tears found their way down on her cheek. "No doubt?" He smiled, his lips trembling. "No doubt!"
Tenten sighed in relief. Closed her eyes again a bit. The normally so lively brown orbs were gray and even the shimmering tears couldn't change the fact that they were dull and unfocused.
Tenten gave a least breath, muttering "I don't want to see you there soon, Neji." , before she closed her eyes completely.

(A/N):

I know, and I already told you, don't blame me!
Actually I am really disappointed by the end. But I couldn't think of something better...
If anyone wants to know the name of the song, it's "Let her go" (captain obvious) by Passenger.

So what do you think? Hate it? love it? Want to hit me with a chair? Let me know :)
