She was sorry. She was sorry for going behind his back and seducing another person. Heck really couldn't believe it, he had suspected something was wrong with Rach since their wedding. She seemed so different, there but not there. Heck threw the blanket off his body and sat up on the sofa, he buried his face in his hands. Not knowing what really to do. He know he needed to talk to someone about this, ANYONE. Reluctantly, Heck grabbed the cordless phone and dialed up his best friend, Cooper, or Coop rather. It was around ten at night when the call was made, so Coop was already in bed and nearly asleep. The sound of the phone gave him a small start, he sighed and rubbed his tired eyes as he reached for his phone.
"Talk but quickly." Coop mumbled into his pillow
"Coop...Did I wake you?" Heck asked.
"Heck, it's ten at night. You can take a bloody guess." Coop remarked.
"I'll call tomorrow then." Heck said quietly, his voice trembling.
After hearing that slight tremble, Coop knew that something wasn't right with his friend.
"Hecky, what's going on?" Coop asked.
"You always knew something was wrong, didn't you?" Heck asked.
"What did she do?" Coop asked.
"Nothing major. Only shagged someone else without giving so much as an inkling." Heck stated, his voice breaking.
"Who was it?" Coop asked.
"She didn't say, I'm kind of glad she didn't." Heck remarked.
Coop finally realized, he knew exactly who Rach was with. His mind began to wander, on how earth this person could have done something so shallow as to shag the wife of his best buddy.
"Coop? You still there?" Heck asked.
"Yeah, I'm here. Listen, I'll be over first thing tomorrow. Hang tight, okay?" Coop stated, his mind lost in his thoughts.
"Will do. Hey, you aren't incredibly pissed off are you? I mean I did wake you-"
"Of course not. Always here." Coop said simply.
"See you in the A.M." Heck sighed.
"Sure I can hang up? You sound rigid." Coop asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." Heck insisted.
"Stay strong."
"I'll try." Heck said quietly.
"Bye Hecky." Coop whispered.
"Bye."
With that, both of the men hung up the phones. Heck wiped the tears that had flown during the conversation, while Coop laid back in bed and ran his fingers through his hair.
"I'll kill her." Coop vowed.
Just then, Coop's new girl Amelia, came into the bedroom wearing a robe.
"Who was that?" Amelia asked.
"It was Heck." Coop stated.
"Is he all right?" Amelia asked.
"He will be, I just know a certain young woman who is going to get an earful tomorrow." Coop remarked.
"From Heck?" Amelia asked.
"Not even close." Coop shook his head.
Coop didn't want to confront the young woman who called herself Luce, he really didn't. However, he wasn't ready to let Heck go through this alone. Even if it meant he had to be the bad guy.
