Never Giving Up:

A Lily and James Story

"Just this once?"

"No."

"Please, I'll do all your homework."

"No, plus, you'll just mess it up."

"But, Lily, you're the one."

"Ye right, I though Kristen, Amanda, Hillary, Julia, and all the other girls you've dated this year were 'the one.'"

"Bit-"

"Oh, shut up Potter, you're such a womanizing git."

"POTTER!"

"Lily, how are you? Are you OK?"

"Potter, what are you doing outside my door, how'd you even get up here?"

"Jenny levitated me, so can I just talk to you?"

"No, go away," Lily said in a huff, walking passed him.

"Lily, I just wanted to see you, I love you."

"No you don't, leave me alone."

"I'll wait as long as it takes, I've already waited for six years."

"Oh and all the other girls were just distractions, move Potter."

"Lily, don't go, I want to know all about your life, what you like and think and…"

James Potter's voice slowly faded away as Lily left him standing outside her dormitory door.

"James, get a grip, she's just a girl."

"No, she's my true love, this is killing me."

Sirius Black sighed, knowing it was true.

"Lily, this is the, what, tenth time this week," Julia Wetmore said, pointing to a bouquet of roses on Lily's bed, "just go out with the guy."

"No," Lily said in a huff, walking out the door.

"Potter," she yelled into the common room, "stop asking me out."

"Go out with me and I will," James said, producing a bunch of balloons with 'I love you' written on them.

"NO!"

"I'll do anything," James pleaded.

"Nothing you can do will change who you are."

"Just give me a chance! I'll prove to you that I love you."

"No, now leave me alone."

James's heart sank as he left Lily in the common room to go for a long walk.

"No."

"Please."

"No."

"I love you."

"No."

"Miss. Potter and Miss Evens, really, be quiet, I expected better of the head boy and girl."

"Sorry, professor, Potter just doesn't understand the word 'NO.'"

"I do. I just don't accept it."

"Well get use to it."

"Okay you can keep say 'no' but one of these days you'll go out with me, because you know you love me too."

"Potter, get it through that thick head of yours, I hate you."

"I wouldn't give up, go out with me?"

"NO!"

"Come on."

"No."

"You're all I care about, all I think about, please, just go out with me?"

"Dose it look like I care?"

"Yes?"

"No, now leave."

"Lily, I really think Potter loves you, I mean he has asked you out every day since fourth year," Hilary said as she and Lily walked into the common room. They both gasped, the whole room was covered in the words "go out with me," "please" "I love you" and "L & J forever," all written in emerald green, Lily's favorite color. Standing in the middle of the room was James Potter, he opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Lily shouted, "NO!"

His words of "I'll never give up," rang in her ears as Lily ran out of the common room.

The next morning she found James had decorated the Great Hall the same way he had the common room. When she entered James was standing on the Gryffindor table, yelling out the phases on the walls. When he saw Lily he sank to his knees and asked "will you go out with me now?"

It seemed like the entire hall was screaming at her to just say yes. She could hear Jenny and Hilary screaming "Say 'yes,' our beds have enough roses on them and the room is full of balloons."

Lily sighed, she had fallen in love with James Potter, this could only led to ruin.

"Oh, fine, I'll go out with you, happy?" she said grudgingly.
