Okay, so this is kind of different from my usual style, but it just popped in to my head (in fact, I have a feeling it's been hovering somewhere near the back for a while now) and I just had to write it. Hopefully you think it works. If so, or even if not, please let me know. All comments are more than welcome :)

It is inevitable. That the greater a person's destiny, the greater their responsibility. For the lives of so many people- their hopes, their wellbeing, their very survival. And, as a person's destiny grows, so too does the responsibility. Their every action impacts the lives of so many in ways many would hardly believe possible. Every triumph brings unparalleled joy, and every failure unrivalled despair.

A great destiny can be the heaviest of burdens.

And the greatest destiny of all belongs to two young boys. Boys who have barely reached the stage where they can be called men. Boys for whom a single choice can be a matter of victory or defeat. For whom a single move can throw a land in to either chaos or a state of perfect peace.

One, a Prince. Raised from birth with the knowledge of this strange power- the power to rule, to hold the lives of many in his hands and do with them as he will. A Prince with the potential, the destiny, to become the greatest of all Kings- to unite the land under a single banner, a single aim. And yet, he is flawed. And at points, it seems he will not- cannot- become the man he should. And every time he gives in, and follows blindly in what he has been taught, his destiny crumbles. Bit by bit.

The other, a Warlock. Born in poverty, never dreaming of anything more than mediocre. But he, too, has power. The power to bend the rules of the world to his whim- to play with the very essence of creation. And, as his destiny demands, the power to protect. But he is not yet ready- has not yet been formed into a man legends will speak of as one half of the greatest of wholes. And he fails. Time and time again, he fails. And so many have died. And so many more will. And sometimes he wonders- will he ever be strong enough to fulfil his destiny? But he never gives up, instead inching his way forward. Bit by bit.

And one day, one glorious, shining day, everything will change. One day, the two will be free- one with their eyes opened, the other there to show the first the faults in his beliefs. One day, they will stand together, and form the greatest of all kingdoms, fulfilling the greatest of all destinies.

But, until then, they fail. And fail again. And so many suffer, and so many more will. And every time they fail they feel their destiny slipping away. But they learn. They remember. And their mistakes shape them into greater men. And one day, although they know not when, their destiny will be complete. It is inevitable.
