Gabriel looked up at his partner who was currently straddling his hips. He reached out and placed his hands on Peter's hips. "Do you think you'll be free after work tomorrow?"

Peter titled his head. "I should be why?"

Gabriel pulled him down for a kiss. "I thought I would take you out for dinner."

Peter smiled at him. "Yeah, I think I'll be able to pencil in a dinner."

Gabriel smiled back, his hands running up Peter's shirt. "I think you will really enjoy tomorrow's dinner hopefully."

Peter leaned down and kissed him. "And why's that?"

Gabriel kissed back. "You're going to have to wait and see."

Peter sighed as Gabriel started to kiss down his neck. "I love you."

"I know, I love you too."

Peter clocked out of work the next day and headed home, completely exhausted. He opened the door to his apartment and tossed his bag on the couch, where Gabriel was sitting. "Do I need to cancel over reservations?"

"What? Oh no, don't do that I'm fine, just a little tired."

Gabriel nodded. "Dress nice."

Peter walked into their bedroom and smiled. Gabriel had already picked out a nice outfit. He put it on before coming back out and looking over at Gabriel. "ready?"

Gabriel nodded and grabbed their coats. Gabriel led him down to a fancy restaurant and they stepped inside. Gabriel exchanged a few words with the hostess before they were led out onto the balcony, where the tables were lit by candlelight and covered in a red cloth. The couple sat down and their orders were immediately taken.

Gabriel was pouring wine for each of them when Peter finally spoke. "This is nice Gabriel, what's the occasion?"

Gabriel laughed. "I can't take my boyfriend out for a nice dinner?"

"Well, I guess. The last time we had a nice dinner like this it was our anniversary, but it's not that. It's also not my birthday or yours."

Gabriel handed him a wine glass. "Just enjoy the dinner."

The food came out and they dug in, making lit talk. There were few other couples around, but it didn't bother them. Gabriel reached out and took Peter's hand in his when after he had finished. "Actually, I do have a reason for taking you out tonight."

Peter smiled. "I figured as much."

Gabriel took a deep breathe lost in thought for a moment. "Well, it's been three years since we've been together. Five if you count those two years in my head. But in those few years, I realized something. You're not going to live forever, and I want to spend the rest of your life with you. I love you."

Peter bit his lip, his heart racing. "what are you saying, Gabriel?"

Gabriel pulled something out of his pocket before getting down on one knee in front of Peter. Peter's heart started to beat faster as Gabriel opened the box to reveal a simple white band. "Will you marry me Peter?"

Peter could feel the tears start to sting his eyes. "Am I dreaming? I must be dreaming. Oh God.."

Gabriel's face fell and he started to shut the box. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't…"

"No, I'm freaking out right now," Peter laughed nervously, Gabriel looked at him slightly confused. He reached out and laid a hand over Gabriel's. "Yes, Gabriel, I'll marry you. I just wasn't expecting this."

Gabriel smiled. "Oh thank God, I thought you were telling me no."

"I've been waiting for you to ask," Peter replied as Gabriel slid the ring on his finger. "This was just a little unexpected that's all."

Gabriel stood back up and kissed him softly. "I love you."

Peter kissed him back. "Love you too."
