Wrote this in about 5 minutes. It's not great but thought I'd share it anyway...

They had to eventually part lips, they needed air. Panting, they held each other tight, arms around waists not willing to let go. They looked at each other then away both suddenly over come with shyness. Both wanting to say so much but couldn't work out what to get out first. After thirty seconds of silence Luke took a deep breath and spoke at the same time Lorelai did "I love you" they said in unison. In the weeks they were apart both were desperate to say these words to one another finally they couldn't hold them in anymore. They smiled at each other shyly. Luke pulled Lorelai closer to him as she rested her head on his shoulder. Lorelai sniffed softy and Luke pulled back concerned "Are you okay?"

Lorelai smiled and nodded "I missed you so much, I'm so sorry"

"Lorelai, no I'm sorry I just… I... was stupid, afraid" he shook his head mentally kicking himself for staying away so long "I missed you too"

Luke took Lorelai by the hand and led her to the couch knowing they needed to talk but not knowing where to start. Finally he spoke "Will you still love me if I'm broke?"

Lorelai looked at him, this was the sort of strange question, something completely out of the blue that she'd ask. Lorelai smiled at him "of course"

"Good because I've been a little off the last few weeks. I kind of kicked half my customers out and the other half I yelled at and they left"

Lorelai giggled "You did that for me?"

Now it was Luke's turn to look at her confused "What?"

"For me, so I could have the whole place to myself? To ourselves?"

Luke smiled "Yes, just for you"

They were back to their usual banter. Luke took another deep breath wishing he could just leave things here. Leave the past behind them and start again from this moment but he knew he had to tell her about Emily but Lorelai spoke before he could "Luke I'm really am sorry. For everything. I wasn't fair to you I wasn't truthful and I know what happened between us is all my fault but Luke I am in.. ALL in" Lorelai had spoken so fast, rambling on her usual way.

"Lorelai no it wasn't your fault. I said I was all in but really I wasn't. I was afraid I didn't let myself be all in because I was afraid. Afraid if something happened between us and we broke up I wouldn't cope so I put up these barriers" Luke took a breath "then I did lose you because I wouldn't let myself deal with the hard stuff and then your mother said…"

Luke stopped, he realized what he'd said, this wasn't the way he wanted to bring it up but at least it was out there.

"When did you talk to my mother?"

"Tonight"

"What?"

"I was in the diner with Kirk my only customer because of the previously mentioned kicking and yelling and your mother came in."

Luke watched Lorelai's face change

"She came in to tell me that you were fighting and that you wanted to be with me and she

would leave us alone then she left"

Lorelai folded her arms across her chest "I don't believe this"

"Lorelai look I'm not your mother's biggest fan and I tried to ignore her but I needed a kick in the pants. I was miserable without you and I knew it. I know we belong together and yet I did nothing about it. When I heard your mother say that you wanted to be with me something snapped I ran out of the diner and came straight here… I'm sorry"

A tear rolled down Lorelai's cheek. She stood up and walked into the hall and opened the front door. Luke got signal, got off the couch and walked back outside on to the porch.

Lorelai shut the door then opened it again. Luke looked at her with questioning eyes.

Lorelai took his hand and pulled him inside and kissed him passionate as Luke had done to her earlier. She pulled back and smiled at him "I love you". Luke felt the weight lift from his shoulders "I love you". This was the new beginning for their relationship, they were both all in.
