COLD OUTSIDE
Elphie was sitting at a fire in her and Galinda's room in Shiz. Of course she had a book in her hands which she was reading enthusiastically.
Outside it was cold and the countryside was covered in white and beautiful snow. The snow was nearly untouched and everything looked very peaceful.
Elphie enjoyed the silence either the one outside and the one in her room because of Galinda's absence. But her relaxing day in front of a warming fire was abruptly ended when Galinda came back from somewhere where she should have stayed in Elphaba's opinion though both girls got along by now and would call each other friends even as long as they were alone. But her friends was just lound and didn't manage to keep her mouth shut so the green girl had problems to concentrate on what she was doing.
When Galinda entered their room Elphie didn't even look up. She just sighed as she already missed the sound of silence.
'Elpihe!' the pink dressed girl said, but something in her voice was different. She didn't even pretend to be cheerful so Elphaba looked up and saw a miserable looking Galinda.
The green would have laughed if the other girl didn't look so lost.
'What's wrong, Galinda?' she asked with a hint of true concern in her voice. Galinda didn't say anything and just headed to Elphaba's bed and cuddled herself into the pillow and the blanket. Just now the green girls realized that her friend was shivering and trembling.
'What's wrong, my sweet?' she asked again.
'I'm feeling sick.' her voice sounded sore.
'I'll take you to your bed then.' Elphie replied and was about to stand up when she saw the blond shaking her head.
'Please, let me stay here, Elphie.' She begged and cuddled even closer into the blanket Elphie was pulling over her.
'If you want, though I always thought you didn't like my poor bed for it's colors.' the taller girl responded.
'I lied.' Was the half coughed answer.
'You really are sick, aren't you?' she asked. This question didn't require a verbal answer as Galinda coughed again. 'I'll get you some tea.' Elphaba offered and stood up again, but this time Galinda grabbed her friend's wrist.
'Don't go, Elphie. Please. I don't want tea. I'm just cold." With that she pulled Elphaba down onto the bed again and even managed to force Elphaba in a lying position though the dark haired girl couldn't say how.
Reluctantly she wrapped her emerald arms around her friend who snuggled closer and let out a content sigh and closed her eyes.
After a few minutes Elphaba noticed that the other girl's breathing had evened and had fallen asleep. Elphie fell asleep like that ,too not caring about removing her arms.
The next morning Elphaba was already awake when Galinda woke up and gave her a smile.
'Feeling better, my dear?' she asked concerned and Galinda smiled back.
'Yes, thanks,Elphie.' She answered and the green got a kiss on her cheek, but Galinda made no attempt to get up. She snuggled closer, even. 'It's so cold outside, Elphie.'
Elphaba played with one of her curls.
'I know, that's why we're here in the first place.' She pointed out smiling and Galinda blushed a bit.
'You know, I like the coldness from time to time, Elphie.' Galinda said grinning and Elphaba actually chuckled.
'Yeah, I can imagine.'
