Hello again guys! This time we have a ficlet from Yugi's POV! (For a change.) This doesn't really follow the canon storyline, but that's okay because I'm not Kazuki Takahashi.
This is kind of a companion story to Whoever You Are, I Love You, but you don't have to read that one in order to understand this. (I recommend it, though, if you're a fan of Puzzlefluff.)

What... are you?
The first time I felt its presence was when I finally completed the Puzzle. I felt something looming over me, watching me intently. I panicked, having heard the lore that a dark spirit lived within the artifact, and I quickly dropped it to my desk. As long as I didn't touch the Puzzle, the... whatever it was... didn't seem to hover around me.
The next day, I felt a sudden, random pang of loneliness, and was somehow drawn to look at the Puzzle. I thought for a moment, and realized that it was not me who felt isolated. Curiously, I reached toward the artifact, deciding to give this supposed "dark spirit" a chance.
Are you lonely?
My fingertips ghosted over the smooth gold surface, and I felt something akin to a purr. There was no sound; actually, there wasn't even any physical sensation. But I could sense, somewhere inside me, that whatever this being was, it was happy that I'd come back to it.
"Are you the friend I wished for?" I asked it quietly, taking the Puzzle gently in my hands. I received no clear response, but it seemed that my voice soothed the spirit. It wanted to be close to me; it felt safe when I was near. I smiled. "You don't seem that evil to me..."
I began to wear the Puzzle on a cord around my neck. It was cumbersome, yes, but the spirit seemed calm resting against my stomach. I realized that perhaps, it was just as lonesome as I was, and that maybe it just needed someone to be close to.
It's okay, little Spirit. I'll be here for you.
