Been playing Fire Emblem Fates and I friggn' love it so far! The idea for this one-shot came to me after completing Chapter 17 in the Birthright path and I thought it would be a nice short story. Speaking of which, don't read this until you've played through that section of the game. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!
It was late at night and Corrin was walking through the empty halls of his castle in the astral plane. He just wandered around thinking about the events that had transpired earlier. After Flora burned herself to death, Felicia took the liberty of burying her sister in the Ice Tribe Village. With all of that on his mind, he couldn't sleep and was forced to roam the fortress. He stopped the moment he could make out sobbing coming from one of the rooms, checking each room until he was certain which door led to the source of the sound.
Knock, knock.
"Felicia, are you all right?" Corrin asked.
"No…"
He could make out sniffling in her voice, but then the door opened to Felicia with puffy red eyes and tears dripping down her face.
"I'm not surprised Flora's death has affected you more than any of us, Felicia."
"Why, Corrin? Why did Flora have to kill herself? We forgave her… and yet…"
"She couldn't forgive herself for betraying us, even though she was forced to… It's not much easier on me, either…" Corrin started clenching his fists. "If I had known sooner… I could've stopped her…"
Felicia lifted up her head and saw that Corrin was now crying.
"I know Garon is responsible for this, and he WILL pay… but I can't help but feel I'm also partly to blame… I'm… I'm sorry, Felicia… If only I was quick enough…"
"Don't… don't beat yourself over it…"
As the two continued sobbing, Felicia embraced Corrin, their bodies still shaking from their sadness, and he reciprocated.
"I… I don't want anyone else to die!" Corrin cried. "Felicia, promise me… promise me you'll live."
"…"
"For Flora… and for me… please… don't die…"
Felicia could feel a strong sense of affection from the way Corrin spoke, causing her to blush and almost smile.
"I… I promise, my lord… I promise…"
The two remained in sadness in each other's arms for what felt like the rest of the night.
A/N: Wow! This has got to be the shortest story I've ever done! I feel like I put in everything I feel necessary. I was actually crying while writing this, though! Anyway, I hope you got emotional and cried… That came out wrong. Stay tuned for more Fire Emblem Fates content from me in the future!
