Chapter 1-The Letters

I spent most the summer, after 4th year at Lily's house. James and Sirius were staying with Remus and they had not yet grown fully into maturity. We got our school letters and set up a meeting place with our mothers to go shopping. When we got to Diagon Alley I immediately spotted their mothers with the three boys.

"Hi mom," I hugged my mother.

"Hey Rem. Oh, cool new badge. Guess that means you're a prefect." I hugged Remus. "Yeah, you'll have to be a good girl now." We all laugh and start to shop around. Looking in at the owls, gawking over the new brooms, studying books in Flourish and Blots and chatting about our summers. Throughout the day I noticed that Sirius steals glances at me, but I think nothing of it at the moment.

"How about we all get some ice-cream?" my mother asked as we pass the ice-cream parlor.

Everyone nods or says ok as we sit at an outside table and order ice-cream. When we're done shopping we head back to the Leaky Cauldron, fore we all brought our school stuff and will take the Hogwarts Express tomorrow. Lily and I share a room, the boys share a room and our mothers share a room. All of us kids head up to our rooms to drop our stuff off. Lily drops her stuff in a corner and goes down stairs to talk to her mother. A few minutes after she leaves a note is slipped under the door. It reads:

Hey Chloe,

What's going on? I was wondering if you wanted to take a walk with me after dinner tonight. If you do, then when you excuse yourself from the table, say that you're going to go to flourish and Blots and I'll meet you there after five minutes.

I read the letter twice to make sure I got it right. When I drop my hands a second letter is slipped under the door. This one is addressed to Lily so I picks it up, place it on Lily's bed and head for the dining room. I find Lily talking with her mom, so I silently walk up to them.

"Hey Chloe, what's going on?" she says after her mom hugs her and walks away.

"That seems to be a very popular question tonight," I retort, still kinda stunned from the letter that's sitting on my bed.

"I have to show you something, but it's up in our room."

"Ok," she says taking my arm and walking back up the stairs to our room.

As we walk in I point to her bed then flop back down on my own to read my letter again. When she's done reading hers through, three times, she looked up at me.

"Is this serious?" she asked as a bewildered look creeps across her face.

"I was just thinking the same about mine. I'm guessing it's from James."

"Yeah, and he asked me if we could…"

"go for a walk after dinner? That's what Sirius asked me."

"So are they serious or just doing this for a prank?"

"Let's ask Rem about it, shall we?" I say slowly snapping out of shock.

Rem and I have a special…kinda…telepathic thing. I start to think, 'Remus. I really need to…' when there was a knock on the door.

"That's him," I say as I smile, cross the room and open the door to find Remus smiling on the other side.

"You needed to talk to me?" he asked as I pulled him in by the arm.

Lily was already standing in the middle of the room holding her letter towards him.

"Is this for real?" she asks.

"Well it depends on what that is?"

"I got a letter from James and Chloe got a letter from Sirius asking us to go on walks with them after dinner tonight."

"What?" he asked, his smile ebbing away and brow scrunching together.

"They actually gave those to you? I mean, I saw them writing the letters, but I didn't think they'd have the gull to give'em to you."

"So it's not a joke, they really do like us like that?" I finally pipe in.

"From what I've heard, they've both had crushes on you since 3rd year.
