Prologue
Andalusia, Southern Spain
Hunter Davis & Lupe Rivera own a small farm after finally settling down after being on the run from Carlos Aguilar for the last twenty years as a result of the pair mating, the reason for setting down roots is Lupe being pregnant with the pairs first pup and the added safety net of Carlos being in the process of extending his rule into neighboring Portugal and lower France through force and since that is proving tougher than he thought fighting on two fronts would be, hunter and Lupe should be very far from the mind of the psychotic ruler of Spanish wolves to care if they settle down to start their family...this later proves to be a false sense of security.
20 years earlier...
Carlos Aguilar considered all werewolves under his rule as alpha to be his property and as such has continually picking and choosing women to be in his bed as "prospective mate's" even if the women are already mated he would see to it that her mate is killed and take her against her will.
Lupe Rivera being one of the strongest and beautiful she-wolves in spain made her a target of carlos, her being mated to a foreign wolf was of no consequence to Carlos, as in his mind if he chose her she was his and he had chosen her to be another 'mate' not considering Hunter a possible threat until the 3 beta's he sent to kill hunter and collect the she-wolf didn't return when summoned, they were found ripped to pieces in the house of the wolves they were sent to retrieve.
Carlos considered this a slap in the face , not only was his 2nd in command and 2 beta's killed during there mission but mostly because there was a foreign wolf in his territory dominant enough to kill Gerard in one-on-one combat never mind there being 2 beta's with him, the fact that they lost is incomprehensible, Gerard wasn't much less dominant than himself and the only reason he didn't compete to be alpha of the pack when Carlos' father passed away is the fact that Carlos saved his younger sister from a rogue wolf when they were teenagers and was content being beta and was even excited when Carlos shared with him his dreams of creating a pack that ruled all others in the world...he would get revenge for his one and only friend by taking Hunter Davis's life and then taking his mate!
Over the years Carlos had trackers following Hunter and Lupe all across Europe while they ran and ran and on countless occasions the trackers where out thought and out maneuvered to the point that at least two of his wolves were killed by his own hand for failing to ind the pair, after conquering the two neighboring packs and swelling his packs numbers of soldiers he put together a team of trackers hunting for them that amounted to the best 5 trackers from the pack to do nothing but hunt Lupe Rivera and Hunter Davis. He entrusted the hunt to the team while he went on honoring his promise of conquering all wolves the world over, after 20 years he had much of Europe and was in the process of putting to rest a battle with the alpha of a pack in southern Portugal and bringing a French alpha under control, both matters will be quick and lethal in keeping with the reputation he enjoyed making himself, he was enjoying the death and subjugation more and more as the years passed but what he was enjoying more was the email he had just received...
After 20 years the hunt was coming to an end!
