Drip, drip, drop.
Aryi watched as the plump raindrops splattered on the window-hole of her frozen home. Rain was a rarity in the Southern Tribe, and normally when it became warm enough at the Pole for the snow to switch out with rain, it made Aryi ecstatic. She was the Avatar, yes, but water was her dominant element. In fact, unless one knew about Aryi's current situation, they would wonder why said Waterbender wasn't outside bending to her heart's content. The reason for this anticlimactic reaction, was that Aryi was moving. Not to another igloo in the South, but to a completely different Pole altogether- the North one. Not too long ago her friend Zai had said her final goodbyes and promises to visit, but she had left, leaving Aryi without sympathy.
"Come on, we're going to be late!" Her mother called from outside.
"I'll be there in a second," Called Aryi. I'm missing something. She thought and began to pace around her igloo (although it was hard to pace in less than 5 meters of space). All of the furniture had been removed yesterday and the other things were gone by that morning, yet she could not shake the feeling that she was leaving something behind.
"Um... Hello?" A short figure about the same age as Aryi called out from the shadows Zai had left behind earlier. He was short, wearing Airbender clothing, and had gray-brown eyes. According to Aryi's thoughts, he was cute.
"Who... who are you?" She asked shyly.
"I'm Aang. I kinda... Was walking by your house and saw you in the window being sad, so I came here to cheer you up!" Aang said cheerily, and somewhat blushing.
"O-oh. Cool. I'm Aryi." Aryi's face was redder than a tomato.
"Come on, Aryi we're going now!" Aryi's mother called impatiently.
"I wish I had more time to get to know you, you seem pretty nice. But I have to move to the North Pole."
"Jikan-teishi no jutsu!" A short person of questionable gender (with all the smoke, it was hard to tell, but something about the person made Aryi think it was female) , with short brown hair and baggy black clothes** appeared mysteriously out of a cloud of smoke holding her hands together in a strange sign***. After shouting these cryptic words, the person poofed out again, the same cloud of smoke swirling around her. When the smoke evaporated, she was gone.
"What was that?"
"I'm not sure..." Aryi knew this person was familiar, but she couldn't place how. This person somewhat reminded her of Zai.
"Well, she said 'Art of Time-Stop' In case you're wondering."
"Well, if this actually worked, then we have all the time in the world."
"Hey, what's this?" He picked up a piece of paper lying on the igloo floor where the girl had came and left. It read:
Jikan-teishi no jutsu- The Art of Time-Stop, or the Art of Stopping Time. This does not last forever, but it can last up to fifteen minutes. This cannot be performed by just anyone- only by the most skilled ninjas. Do not attempt to recreate this move. Use your time wisely. Love-
The rest of the letter is soaked by melted snow, although Aryi swears she can make out a 'B'.
Use your time wisely.
Aryi did not want to use her time to practice her martial arts.
"Fifteen minutes." Aryi said.
"Fifteen minutes." Aang copied.
The next quarter hour neither pre-teen would forget.
*This girl is supposed to be Aryi's best friend.
**This is somewhat a Naruto reference
