Sad Skies

They were at a park. It was a mutual decision that had brought them there. The dark-haired boy collapsed onto the ground next to one of the park's benches. With more refinement the petite blonde that had followed him sat down on the bench. They spent a long time silence, both quietly listening to the motions of the world around them.

"Hiiro, I'm feeling blue." The girl with long blond hair spoke out loud to her companion, breaking the silence. The boy beside her did not give her an immediate response.

"What does it mean 'feeling blue'?" He finally questioned staring intently at the sky from his position on the ground next to her.

"Usually blue is referred to the feeling of being sad, so when one says they are feeling blue they mean they are feeling sad." She gave him a strange sidelong glance as she said that. Hiiro returned the gaze evenly. He then turned away from her and lied down, giving him a better view of the sky.

"Okay..." The words left his lips so quietly that they were barely heard before they faded away.

"I'm sorry I can't explain it better..." The girl knew she had tried, and at a loss for words she said nothing more. The minutes dragged by slowly.

"Usagi?" The troubled boy queried.

"Yes?" She did not turn to look at him and continued staring at some distant point on the horizon.

"The sky is blue and blue is sad, so does that make the sky sad?"

After those words were uttered the blonde left her spot on the bench and reseated herself next to the boy, also taking the time to lie down. She reached for his hand and clasped it within her own.

"Yes, I suppose it would."

At that two pairs of blue eyes returned to staring at the sky, silence once again over taking them.
