Poetry has never been my strong point but this made me sad when I wrote it so I decided to share it.
It's about how Dib is in constant conflict with himself because he can'tignore that Zim is an alien despite the fact that his obsession is ruining his life. It's also Dib realising that if he gives up believing in the paranormal he would never be able to accept that he was in love with Zim because he wouldn't love him for who and what he really was.
Disclaimer: I don't own Invader Zim or any of its characters, which is a pity because I would have sold it to another network and made sure more episodes were aired!
BELIEVE
He needs to believe because without him he is nothing
But believing is driving him mad
That stupid disguise, those terrible lies. It's a skin condition.
Believing is killing him because they won't see.
Going crazy in a world gone mad
Only the lunatics understand.
He needs to believe because it gives him a dream
But dreaming has left him alone.
He gazed at the moon but he's searching too soon
Believing has made the world laugh; it's not ready.
They don't want to see, they don't want to know
So why does he fight him day after day?
He needs to believe because it keeps him alive
But believing has come at a price
Bloody battles and fights, red eyes in the night;
Belief is haunting his dreams
He needs him to notice him so he knows that he's there
Else he'd just slip away. At least he means something to someone.
He needs to believe because he must learn to accept
But accepting is hard to do
An alien, an enemy, why must it be
That we cannot love without pain?
He knows he'll be shunned if they know the truth
But they don't believe, so he doesn't care.
I'd like to know what you think so reviews are very welcome :)
