Here is a short, one-chapter rewrite of the scene where Olivia finds out what happened to Elliot. Enjoy and please review.
"Benson." boomed Cragen. "My office, now."
"Nice working with you." said Munch. "You were a pleasure."
Olivia walked into Cragen's office, knowing the worse was to come.
"I didn't know she was lying about being raped." said Olivia.
Cragen turned to Olivia.
"Please shut the door Olivia." said Cragen. "Forget about the lies, I have some important news."
Olivia shut the door.
"What's the news?" asked Olivia.
"Well." said Cragen. "It's going to hurt you when I say this. And I'm going to tell you the news as best as I can."
Olivia knew something bad was about to happen.
"Elliot put his papers in." said Cragen. "He has resigned."
Olivia didn't believe what she was hearing.
"There's nothing I could do about it." continued Cragen.
Olivia was trying to maintain her calmness, but she was on the verge of breaking down.
"He... deserved it." said Olivia.
"I know this hurts you, since you and Elliot were like friends. I'm always here if you need to talk. But I think you need some time to let your grief out, so I'm giving you some time off."
Olivia was about to cry.
"I need no time off." said Olivia. "I'm fine."
"I am so sorry. This was the hardest thing I've ever done. It's going to hurt not just you, but everyone here in the Special Victims Unit."
Olivia walked away, still on the verge of crying.
Fin noticed Olivia.
"You okay?" he asked.
Just then, a call came in.
Munch assigned Amanda to go with Fin.
"I'll go." said Olivia, even though she was upset. "Give me five and we'll roll."
Clearly, everyone could see that Olivia was upset.
Olivia walked into the interrogation room, and broke down crying.
Tears rolled down her face, and Olivia was sobbing.
Nothing could be done to bring Olivia's beloved partner Elliot back to the Special Victims Unit.
