He could feel her sometimes, on days when all was still and quiet, nothing around to distract him from his thoughts. That's when he could feel her near as though she'd never left. He'd close his eyes and relish in it, afraid to move or speak for fear of making her disappear. The pain in his soul at her loss was so great and he starved for any strand of her presence. It was moments like this, when it felt like she was there beside him, curling into his side that he both craved and dreaded. Craved it for the soothing effect of her nearness. Dreaded it with the knowledge that it couldn't last.
He could feel the pain in her soul, an echo to the one in his and wished for some way to ease it. Ease it so she could move on and live the life that he'd always wished for her. She deserved that and so much more. But he could also feel that she lived for these moments as he did, lived for it because it was a connection between them. However frail it was, it was still a link and that gave him some hope. Hope that he'd see her again one day, because thinking anything else cause something within him to die. He needed her for he couldn't feel without her.
