The city of Kagami was lit like a candle, bright and flickering. The large windows of buildings reflecting the lights brightening the night sky. Noise polluted the sound waves as adults left work to go to pubs and students hanging out or heading home crowded the streets. Business owners called out their shops, offering deals and pamphlets to passing men and women.
Taxi cabs stopped at curbs for drunken patrons and late night commuters. One pulled over and emptied a drunken man in a suit with a laughing teen. A boy in black hoodie and red hair climbed in.
"Where to kid?" The driver talked in a accent that all taxi drivers no matter the culture spoke.
The teen kept quiet and handed the man a slip of paper that had a poorly drawn map.
"Tenkuji House? New tenant huh? I remember one time a..." The cab driver started a tale of his youth that the red haired teen ignored him. Sighing he laid his head back, it would take a while for him to get to Tenkuji House and the train ride tired him. Slowly his blue eyes closed.
"Welcome to the velvet room." Blue eyes opened slowly. Confusion flew across them as they took in not a cab but a flat ocean. The boy sat in a a velvet blue chair above clear water. In front of him a blue table with a figure sitting behind it, another standing next to him. The crystal orbs didn't stop looking around. Surrounding them was a blue velvet sky that was vast and empty not even the sun was visible, yet light still shone.
"My name is Igor; I'm delighted to make your acquaintance." The boy's eyes flew back to the figure sitting in a velvet blue Victorian couch. It held a balding man with what could only be described as a huge nose. He was slouching forward with his right hand just below his chin. His face held a large creepy grin that his large bulging eyes only made worse.
"I'm sure you're curious to how you got here but you need not worry. This room exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. Your body still slumbers with in the waking world. Tell me do you believe in fate?"
The red haired boy took a minute to process the question before shaking his head.
"I see. That is a shame. Believe it or not fate controls many aspects of humans daily lives. Like a little red wire wrapped around your figure tips your life has a planned fate to it. I'm interested to see this fate unfold." The man next to Igor gave a small cough to catch his attention.
" Ah it seems I failed to introduce my assistant. Edward if you'd please."
Red met gold as they turned to the man next to Igor. He stood about 5'10 in a dark black and blue velvet tux. The young looking man had silver hair that nearly passed over his golden eye, and strange eye patch with the roman numerals VII. In his hands he held a thick book against his chest.
"I am Edward. I look forward to future encounters should fate deem it so."
"It seems our time is up. But before you go please sign this. " Igor swiped his hand over the table causing a contract to appear.
"This states that you take full responsibility for your actions and all consequences that may take place." Edward explained placing a pen next to the parchment.
The boy looked down at the paper and back at the two men, both of whom smiled. He took the pen and wrote his name.
"Till we meet again, Ryuu Shirogane." With those words the world faded to black.
