A/N: So I made my friend cry with my other Wendy and Bae fic. Sorry readingisthelife. I hope this one is less emotional. I just love young!Bae so much; Neal makes me want to kill him myself. So in my mind they are two different people.

Also, I just got a bunch of followers and favorites out of nowhere. Thanks guys! I really wasn't expecting anyone to follow/favorite ANY of my writing. Y'all know how to make a girl feel loved.

Disclaimer: Bae and Wendy are true love. But the show decided to break Emma's heart instead. Yeah, I own nothing.

Bae spent all day thinking of how to save this family.

His family.

What had been his family was not like this; a mother and father and siblings who all cared for each other more than anything. He had begun to think of them as his own ever since they let him into their home. That's why he wouldn't let them be destroyed. He'd do anything for them, the Darlings.

Mrs. Darling asked him if something was wrong with his breakfast, but he just smiled and said he was realizing, and not for the first time, how much his life had changed because of their kindness and generosity. He genuinely thanked them and finished the meal despite his flip-flopping stomach, allowing the attentive mother to fuss over Wendy's full plate.

Wendy. Bae would be lying to himself if he said he did not love her. He'd never been in love before, but he was pretty sure it was love; he'd do anything for her safety. For her family, her happiness.

Anything to see her smile again; it seemed the shadow had taken that in the night too. During afternoon lessons, Bae endured the furious reprimands of the tutor to perform a balancing act on his nose for Wendy. He got to three books before it came tumbling down, and he gratefully took the shouts of the tutor, since they were mingled with Wendy's delighted giggles.

Light to drive the shadows away, the crawl space a last resort. He had it drawn out on his dinner plate, but began to eat before Mr. Darling could ask what he had done with his peas and rolls.

Anything. Bae promised himself he'd do anything as he slipped into the bed with a pocket full of matches and his eyes on Wendy. The shadow might hurt her to get to the boys, but if it was a boy the creature wanted…

Anything.

And then it came. All of his well laid plans were for nothing, as he thought they might be against magic. He candles blew out and the window burst open. With no other defense, Bae hoped he' d be able to protect them in the crawl space, but one was left behind.

Anything; he promised.

And so Bae offered himself instead.

A/N: Ok, maybe that was sad. I'm sorry. I'll write something happy for them soon.
