BY YOU AND YOUR NAME
It was the most beautiful day she had ever seen. Warm, summer morning sun shining brightly and not a cloud in the deep blue sky. Weak breeze played with her long snake-like hair, cooling her hot face pleasantly.
Well, here comes the sweet breeze. Hinata shifted her position carefully while sitting on the rocky bench. I think I'd actually don't like the book version – "It was a dark and stormy night, rain pouring down from the sky like the tears of the world." She couldn't remember where she'd read that. Shino would probably know. She'd ask him later.
Hinata adjusted her position again.
"Stop moving, Hyuga! You make more noise and then the ninjas will find and kill us!"
The words were cutting. However, any effect they could have had was ruined by the way they were said. The tone of voice held concern and a bit of affection. For him.
"Hinata."
"What?"
"Call me Hinata, Uchiha - sama."
This was a conversation they'd held several times to no avail, but Hinata was not the one to give up.
Silence. Hinata guessed Uchiha – san didn't want to spend his time arguing. Not before THE Battle. The battle was supposed to end it all. Hinata was distracting him from important battle plans.
"Then call me xxxxxxx."
That was unexpected.
Hinata half-turned and looked at her companion. xxxxxxx Uchiha in his usual attire – black robes, black hair and compulsory scowl fixed firmly on his face – sat next to him carefully watching the forest.
It was the direction Hinata should have been looking at too – they had information Konoha's forces were gathering in the forest – but she felt he could, for a little while at least, do something more pleasant.
Like watching her S rank criminal and secret crush.
Hinata grinned, for a moment trying to imagine her friends' reactions to that little bit of knowledge. Kiba would have a stroke, Kurenia lecture her about the lack of responsibility and Shino would just give death glare at him.
Hinata already knew Naruto were against them.
As if feeling Hinata's gaze, Uchiha - san turned to look at her. Their eyes met and held. Hinata smiled. For a moment xxxxxxx's features softened with an answering almost-smile. Then he turned back to the forest.
Hinata couldn't stop smiling as he, too, started watching the forest at last.
"Uchiha – sama before I die, may I ask you a favor?"
"Hurry up we don't have time at all!!"
She got up from the rocky bench, walked up to him, tiptoe and kissed him on his lips.
"Thank you, Uchiha – sama."
"Well that was unexpected, but thank – you."
And went to his plans back again. Hinata smiled staring at the blue sky for the last time.
She'll never know. But that's okay. He gave her the right to call him by his name. And she smiled at him, almost. If she dies today, at least have something to take with her.
"Madara."
