Chapter 1

Hello everypony, welcome to a new story I thought up. I know, how many new stories am I gonna make before finishing one up, why another OC story, and when am I gonna finish up one of my other stories? Don't worry, this story will be pretty good for those that are MLP fans. And for those Miraculous fans, don't worry, after this chapter, I'll be putting chapter five of Fury's Miraculous Adventure up. Now let the story begin.

On a train heading to the Crystal Empire, we see the Mane Six talking about King Sombra. A few seats down, we see a pale yellow male Earth pony with the same body stature as Big Mac, but a little bigger than him. His mane was a sapphire blue with sky blue mixed in, which his tail was the same color. His hooves were a sapphire blue. His Cutie Mark was a sapphire blue lightning bolt hitting what looks like the ground. And his eyes were two different shades of blue; sapphire blue and sky blue respectively. This is Sapphire Thunder.

'King Sombra? Why are those ponies talking about him?' Sapphire Thunder mentally asked himself, then shook it off. 'They're probably just pretending. Besides, one of them looks really cute.' He looked at a certain blonde pony, then turned away blushing.

The train arrives at the Crystal Empire station, which Sapphire got off after the six ponies and spike. He heard the white unicorn, which he believed was named Rarity, say something about packing too many scarves.

Sapphire Thunder then noticed Spike slip and fall with all the luggage, which he went over to check on the small dragon. "You okay?" He asked, offering Spike one of his blue hooves of help.

"Yeah, thanks for the help." Spike said, accepting the help.

"It's no big deal." Sapphire Thunder said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head.

"What brings you all the way to the Crystal Empire?" Spike asked.

"Well, I was-" Before Sapphire Thunder could finish, he was interrupted by Shining Armor calling out Twilight's name.

"Shining Armor?" Twilight called out. Shining Armor was walking in the snow while covered with a black scarf and goggles.

"Twily, you made it!" Shining Armor happily said, as he and Twilight ran to each other and hugged. "We gotta get moving, there're things we really don't wanna run into after dark."

"What kind of things?" Fluttershy and Sapphire Thunder asked, which the latter was curious, while the former was scared.

"Let's just say the empire...isn't the only thing that's returned." Shining Armor said dramatically.

Everypony had walked a good distance from the train station, while Shining Armor was filling Twilight and her friends on what has been going on with the wind blowing.

"Something keeps trying to get in. We think it's the unicorn king who originally cursed the place." He said.

"What? King Sombra has returned!?" Sapphire Thunder asked. "I thought only the empire returned, that's why I was going to live here. Now I have to go back to Manehattan?"

"Sorry, but now isn't the best time to move to the Crystal Empire, Mister...what's your name?" Shining Armor asked.

"Oh, with all that's been going on, I forgot to introduce myself. The name's Sapphire Thunder." Sapphire Thunder introduced himself.

"It's nice to meet you, but Princess Celestia said I was being sent here to find a way to protect the empire." Twilight said. "If King Sombra can't get in, then it must already be protected."

As Sapphire Thunder was about to ask if Twilight really knew the Princess, there was a strange sound ringing around.

"It's one of the things, isn't it!?" Fluttershy asked in a panicked tone.

"We have to get to the Crystal Empire. Now!" Shining Armor said.

Just then, a huge shadow with green eyes and red iris' appeared, making Shining Armor grab a scared Spike and run with the other ponies.

"Almost there." Shining Armor said, seeing the shield protecting the Crystal Empire. He then stops and tries shooting a magic beam at the shadow, but it went threw it.

All the other ponies went through the barrier that was keeping the empire invisible to what's keeping it out. Everypony was out of breath, as they were panting kinda heavily from the run.

"Everypony okay?" Twilight asked, which they were saying yes. Shining Armor then came through the barrier, his horn having black crystals on it.

"Oh no, Shining Armor. Your horn." Twilight said, as Shining Armor was trying to do magic, but failed.

"Sparklarific." Pinkie Pie said, seeing the empire.

"Is that even a word?" Sapphire Thunder asked.

"We just go with it." Applejack told him. They all entered the Crystal Empire, which they were nearing the palace.

"It's gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous." Rarity said, enjoying the scenery. She then started drooling at all the crystal structures, not literally. "There are no words."

"Focus Rarity, we're here to help Twilight, not admire the scenery." Applejack said.

"For a second, I thought her jaw would come undone by how far down to the ground it was." Sapphire Thunder joked, getting a chuckle from Applejack, and a laugh from Rainbow Dash.

"I don't see what the big deal is, looks like another castle to me." Rainbow Dash said, making Rarity offended.

"Another old-? Have you lost your mind? Look at the mag-" Rarity was about to continue, until she saw it was just another joke. "Very funny." She said, as everypony entered the castle.

"Cadence!" Twilight excitedly said, walking up to an exhausted Princess Cadence, her Alicorn horn glowing. They then did their little chant they always do when they see each other.

"One of these days, we have to get together when the fate of Equestria isn't hanging in the balance." Cadence said, tired.

"You okay?" Twilight asked Cadence, concerned for the Princess' health.

"Cadence has been able to use her magic to spread love and light. That seems to be what is protecting it, but she hasn't slept, barely eats." Shining Armor said, concerned about his wife. "I want to help, but my protection spell has been countered by King Sombra."

"It's alright Shining Armor, I'm fine." Cadence told him.

"I'm sorry to speak out of turn Princess, but you look exhausted to me." Sapphire Thunder said.

"Thanks for your concern, but...who are you? I don't remember you being one of Twilight's friends." Cadence said.

"I'm Sapphire Thunder, and I'm new here." Sapphire Thunder introduced himself to the Princess.

"The introductions are nice and all, but she's not fine." Shining Armor said, referring to Cadence. "She can't go on like this forever, and if her magic were to fade, you saw what's out there waiting for that to happen."

"That's why we're here." Twilight said.

"Why we're ALL here." Applejack said, which all of Twilight's friends agreed.

"I originally came to move here, but I'll gladly help in anyway I can." Sapphire Thunder said, bravely.

"Well, with Cadence putting all her strength into keeping her spell going, and me trying to keeping an eye for signs of trouble in the arctic, we haven't been able to gather much information from the Crystal Ponies." Shining Armor said.

"Crystal Ponies!? There are Crystal Ponies?" Rarity asked all excited, making everyone stare at her oddly. "Please, continue." She said once she realized everypony was staring at her.

"But we have to believe one of them knows how we can protect the Empire, without having to use Cadence's magic." Shining Armor said. Twilight started to think, than had an idea.

"A research paper." She said, which made Shining Armor confused. "That must be part of my test, gather information from the Crystal ponies and bring it to you. This is going to be great, I love research papers."

"Yeah, who doesn't." Rainbow dash said, elbowing Pinkie Pie.

"Oh, oh, oh, let me guess. Is it Spike? No, Fluttershy? Rarity?" Pinkie Pie was trying to guess.

"That was a rhetorical question, Pinkie." Sapphire Thunder said.

"Don't worry, big brother. I'm good at this sort of thing." Twilight said, winking at him.

Out in town, everypony split up and asked the crystal ponies about when King Sombra ruled, but had no luck.

"I got nothing so far." Rainbow Dash said.

"Oh, me neither." Rarity said.

"Did you actually ask the ponies here, or just fascinate about being a crystal pony?" Sapphire Thunder joked.

"Shut up!" Rarity said.

"Well, I didn't have any luck either." Sapphire Thunder said.

Fluttershy walks up, only to revile to be Pinkie Pie in a Fluttershy costume. "My cover has been blown, I repeat, my cover has been blown." She said.

"Okay..." Twilight said, used to Pinkie being Pinkie.

"Sorry Twilight, these crystal ponies seem to have some collective amnesia or something. The only thing I was able to get out of them was a library." Applejack said, which made Twilight get all excited.

"A library. Why didn't you just say so!" Twilight said.

"Thought I just did." Applejack said, which everypony went to the library.

"I just...I don't even know what to...there are no words." Twilight said in excitement.

"Ahem. May I help you?" Asked a librarian.

"Yes, we're looking for a book." Twilight said.

"We have plenty of those." Said the librarian.

"You do, you really do." Twilight said, spinning around like she was in heaven.

"She really loves books." Sapphire Thunder said.

"Tell me about it." Rainbow Dash said, rhetorically.

"We're looking for a history book, something that'll tell us about how the empire might of protected itself from danger back in the day." Applejack said.

"Yes, of course. History, history. Ah, yes." The Librarian said, after thinking.

"Which is where, exactly?" Twilight asked, after the Librarian didn't say where the history books were.

"I...I can't seem to remember. I'm not sure I actually work here." The Librarian said, making Rainbow Dash slap her face with her hoof.

"We should take a look around, I'm sure we can find it on our own." Twilight said, as everypony started looking around the library for the book

"Let me know if you find anything." The Librarian said, walking the other direction.

"I like her." Pinkie Pie said.

"You like everypony, don"t you?" Sapphire Thunder asked

"Sure do!" Pinkie said.

Everypony was looking around the library for the book, using their own productive ways to finding the books.

"Anypony else starting to think this is a lost cause?" Applejack asked.

"I am." Sapphire Thunder said, waving his hoof in the air while peeking from a corner, only to fall on his side.

"Oh, that looks like fun. Dog-pile!" Pinkie Pie said, jumping on Sapphire Thunder, granting a big 'Oof' from him.

"No. No. No. No. No. Yes!" Twilight said, looking through many books with her magic, and finding the right one. Everypony starts to gather around her."'History of the Crystal Empire', hopefully it has the answers we need."

"'A Crystal Faire.' According to this book, it was established by it's first Queen, and became their most important tradition." Twilight said. "The fair was held every year to 'renew the spirit of love and unity in the Empire, so they could protect it from harm.' My friends and I can put it together, everything we need to know is in the book."

"That sounds pretty promising." Shining Armor said, looking to Cadence, who was nodding off.

"We'll get started right away." Twilight said. "Come on Spike, we've got a Crystal Faire to put together."

~Musical number~

Twilight enters a big room with a big circular table, where her friends were standing with Sapphire Thunder.

Twilight: Princess Cadence needs our help, her magic will not last forever. I think we can do it, but we need to work together. We have to get this right, yes we have to make them see. We can save the crystal ponies with their history~.

Rainbow Dash: It says they like jousting~.

Rarity: They flew a flag of many hues~

Applejack: Made sweets of crystal berries~.

Fluttershy: They had a petting zoo with tiny ewes~.

All: Oh, we have to get this right, yes we have to make them see. We can save the Crystal Ponies with their history~.

Pinkie Pie: There was a Crystal Flugelhorn, that everypony liked to play~.

Sapphire Thunder: And a Crystal Kingdom anthem, can you learn it in day~?

All: Oh, we have to get this right, yes, we have to make them see. We can save the Crystal Ponies, with their history~.

~End song~

"It looks amazing." Twilight said. "I don't know how I could have done this without you. One last check to make sure everything is in place, and then the festivities can begin."

"What's this thing for?" Applejack asked, poking a heart-shaped crystal on a pedestal.

"The last page of the book mentioned a Crystal Heart as the fair's centerpiece, so I used my magic to cut one out of a crystal block." Twilight said.

"Nice work, Twi." Applejack complimented. "Think we're ready to get this fair up and running."

Up on the balcony of the castle, Pinkie plays the Flugelhorn off-key, as Twilight walks out with Shining Armor and Princess Cadence.

"Hear ye, hear-" Twilight was about to say, until she was interrupted by Pinkie playing the Flugelhorn again.

"Hehe, my bad." Pinkie said. Twilight then clears her throat.

"Hear ye, hear ye. Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor do cordially invite you to attend the Crystal Fair." Twilight announced, which got the Crystal Ponies happy.

"Come on in, y'all. Got food and drinks thataway, games and crafts thataway. Crystal Heart's in the back near the Princess." Applejack said.

"Did she say, 'Crystal Heart'?" One pony asked.

"We totally nailed it, right?" Rainbow Dash asked one pony,who ran away in fear. "Must be feeling a lot of love and unity about now. Gonna have some grub, huh? What are you thinking? Crystal Empire Berry Pie? Maybe some Crystal Corn on the Cob? What is with these ponies?"

"Seeing all of this, I feel like I'm starting to remember, remember things before the king." One Crystal Pony said.

"Me too." Said another. They then both gasped.

"The Crystal Heart!" They both said.

"Do you think they really have it?" One pony asked.

"Of course we have it. Can't have a Crystal Faire without the Crystal Heart, Rught?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Of course you can't." Said the Librarian from earlier. "the whole purpose of the Crystal Faire is to lift the spirits of the Crystal Ponies so the lights within them can power the Crystal Heart so that the empire can be protected. I do work at the library.

"What's that about powering the heart?" Rainbow asked, as Applejack and Sapphire Thunder appeared next to her.

"I just can't believe you found it." The Librarian said. "King Sombra said he'd hidden it away where we would never see it again. I only hope it will still be as powerful after all these years. Mmm, funnel cakes."

Rainbow Dash then flies to the 'Crystal Heart' and covers it along with Twilight.

Sapphire Thunder appeared as quickly as Rainbow Dash can fly.

"Why did you-?"

"I think we may have a problem." Rainbow tells Twilight.

On the Balcony, Twilight, Sapphire Thunder, and Rainbow are on there with Cadence and Shining Armor.

"I didn't know it was an actual relic. the book didn't mention anything about the Crystal Ponies powering the heart." Twilight said. "There was a page did I not notice?"

"It's altight Twilight." Cadence says, before falling into Shining Armor's arms, drained of power.

"Twily." Shining armor said. They then here the same creature howling from before. King Sombra was coming.
