*YAWN* Boy, school is really sucking the life out of me… Sorry guys for the extended absence but school (and I know ive said this before) comes first, regrettably. :( Now to free my bored mind, well that's where my puppets come to play, hmm? *slaps alter ego self out of chair to resume typing* See? I can barely keep her under control. Whew. Well now I'll stop complaining about my personal life and get on with this little oneshot I felt inspired to write. No big plans for this, just wanted to delve a little deeper into that twisted mind of Vlad's. First time, so readers beware…

Vlad twirled the King through his fingers absent-mindly. Staring at the dancing flames in the hard brick fireplace, Vlad let his inner exhaustion show with the form of a loud sigh. It was times like these Vlad truly felt just how lonely he really was. No matter how many possessions he owned and no matter how rich he was, there was still this void within him that he didn't understand. He had everything a person could ever want, so why then did he still feel like there he was missing something?

The fire cracked loudly almost as if in tune with the hybrid's thoughts.

Leaning back into his leather chair, Vlad set the King down on the coffee table in front of him and brought both hands to his face to massage it. Why did he bother contemplating this troubling topic? Vlad berated himself for letting his mind wander, but soon he started thinking again. Lowering his hands back down again Vlad stared longingly at the picture of the Fentons on the mantle over the fire. Jack had everything Vlad really wanted. A wife. A son. A perfect family. Vlad's eyes flashed red. Why did Maddie and Daniel refuse him? He was so much better than that fat-oaf Jack!

Leaping out of his chair he approached the mantle and smacked the picture to the floor causing it to instantly shatter against the hardwood floor. Vlad burned with energy that showed around him like a red aura. For a few seconds all he did was stare at the shards of glass, fisting his hands at his sides. Then at a moment's notice his anger snuffed out completely and his energy vanished. Kneeling down, Vlad picked up the picture frame and turned it so that he could see their happy faces.

Maddie smiled warmly at the camera in her warm embrace next to Jack who, in turn, was smiling like a young child on Christmas. Jazz smiled slightly oblivious to her parent's affection. Daniel on the other hand smiled shyly and in an embarrassed way pertaining to his parents. Vlad's emotions spiraled uncontrollably. His blue eyes shifted from Maddie to Jack to Jazz and to Daniel. How could he hate Jack so much and still love Maddie and Daniel, even after they flat out refused him? Vlad rubbed his thumb over their faces before standing up again and placing the picture back on the mantle.

Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring.

Vlad straightened his black suit and exhaled quietly as he walked towards the phone. Placing a smile on his face, that could show many things but meant nothing, he picked up the phone as it rang again and answered the person on the other end.

Ehhh… okay. I sort of like it but I think it could be much better. Though this is my first time attempting this so I hope I pleased most of you! Oh and if you don't mind my asking, anybody want to draw some of these scenes? I would like to use a picture for each story so if you're interested just send me a message on deviantart of the picture. Plus I will make a link from my profile page here to each picture. Hope to see some drawings!
