Revisit

Dr. Daniel Jackson walked into his office to find General Jack O'Neill watching something on a laptop carelessly placed on a table full of artifacts. He took a deep breath to keep patient.

"Jack?"

His friend looked up, smiling. "Daniel! Where've you been?"

Daniel frowned. "Briefing SG-14. Jack, you should know, you scheduled the briefing."

Jack's eyebrows rose. "Did I?" He tilted his head, as if to recall. "Yes, I did," he waved dismissively. "Look what I found!"

Daniel rounded the table to where Jack stood and looked at what was on the video. His eyes widened and some of the color drained from his face. "What the…"

It was him, Daniel Jackson, clumsily unfolding a star chart in a briefing. He watched himself announce to the people in the briefing room – mostly military with some scientists – that what had been thought to be a language was, "in fact, constellations", then watched himself explain that it was a destination.

"Where did you find this?!" Daniel demanded.

Jack grinned. "Was going through some files to be retired and found it!"

"It's awful!"

"Aw, c'mon, Danny! You're adorable!"

Daniel pulled his eyes from the video, to give Jack a questioning look. "Adorable? Jack, it's horrible! I was…a…"

"Dweeb?"

"Yes!" Then Daniel straightened, realizing the word that Jack furnished was exactly the word this same friend had used to describe him all those years ago. He turned to glare at Jack. "Ha, ha. Very funny, Jack. If you're finished, I have work to do."

Jack smiled and picked up the laptop. "Yeah, I'm done," he moved, grinning toward the door. "Oh, and Daniel?"

Daniel looked up from checking for damage to the artifacts Jack had put the laptops on top of, to his friend. "Yes, Jack?" he responded in a tone that said he was being patient.

"Glad you cut your hair. It looks much better."

Daniel had to smile with a chuckle. "Me, too, Jack. Now, go away."
