Epilogue to Fellowship

And so at last we come to final scenes,
When all we loved and knew will pass away,
Some over sea and some to rest in peace,
To dwell in legends, fading day by day.

The quest that drew us each to each has passed,
The world has been rebuilt in Valars light,
Yet those who live still labour under scars,
The hurts we bear can never be put right.
.
This last goodbye will linger in our hearts,
Until the final ship has left these shores,
And into west has carried elf and dwarf,
A line at last then drawn beneath the wars.
